Uig High Stone

This stone is on high ground above the A87 as you enter Uig. We drove into the Youth Hostel on the right and asked if we could go over their fences into the fields as there doesn’t seem any other way to reach it as it is above a steep road cutting.
A local brochure says it is thought to have been part of a stone circle but there seems little evidence to back this up. The stone stands in the center of a mound that is possibly natural and is a smooth pillar about 1.3m (4.5ft) tall. The views from here are excellent.
