The island is flat,
peaceful, covered in palms and good for walking, hiring bikes,
birdwatching, hiring a fishing trip or just relaxing. The people are very
friendly and the scenery is wonderful and it’s not Djerba.
Island view At low tide you can
walk out several kilometres into the sea from the islands and there are
palm frond fences in the water marking out sections of sea owned by
fishermen. These fences act as fishtraps when the tide goes down to ankle
depth.

Sunset at the beach Sunrises
and sunsets were wonderful sights, calm and peaceful with the sea just a
few metres from the door of our room.

Sculpture While on the subject of sculpture, most towns go to a lot of trouble to make their roundabouts in the town centres interesting and it is common to see public sculpture in the most unusual places all over the country. Another unusual medium for sculpture are the shaped leather masks and sculptures seen in the tourist bazaars which can be bargained for a few dinars.
