Cerrig Arthur Coming from Dolgellau
on the A496 take the right turn near the bridge just before you enter
Barmouth. The lane is only marked with a No Through Road sign and is quite
narrow. Follow it uphill and bend to the right to go round a hotel and
continue uphill. Carry on past an old wooden sign for “Sylfaen” and go
on beyond the parking spaces further uphill for about a mile. Park near
the farm at the end of the lane and follow the footpath sign NE for about
¼ mile where the circle comes into view uphill.
Stones
in the centre of the circle
This site was originally levelled by cutting into the slope to make a flat area and the circle is a quite large oval shape at around 16 x 13 metres. Not many stones remain and some are very low and almost buried. There are three larger stones with two of them at about 3 feet (1 metre) in height. We counted nine but there could be more under grassy mounds.
