Standing Stone

Cromlech Go back to the A5025 and turn left towards Amlwch. After
about three miles take the small lane on the left just outside Benllech at
SH 522 815. After about ¾ mile stop by a footpath sign and field gate on
the left. This is also opposite a lane junction on the right. Go along
this muddy track for about ¼ mile and when you go past a hedgerow on the
left at right angles to the path look for a place in the wall where people
have crossed at SH 514 817. This is not easy. Head over the field to a gap
in the hedgerow and hidden in the undergrowth is an overgrown cromlech.

Carry
on towards Pentraeth. Just after some trees on the left there is a small
walled field before some more trees at SH 529 784. This is called The
Three Leaps on the map. Pull up in the end of the lane on the left which
is opposite a lane on the right. This was not easy to find as the map is
not quite accurate here. Over the wall are three small stones in a row.
They are mentioned in a 17th century poem which attaches a
legend to them dating back to the 12th century when a person
who jumped the furthest won the woman – apparently jumping the full
length, quite an impressive feat. They are not impressive stones though.
