Gelli
Hill We have found the footpaths around this part of Powys to be somewhat vague and I wouldn’t recommend the route given in Burl to reach this site. Try taking the road signed to Hundred House from Howey on the A483 and after almost 2 miles park by a rough track at the top of a rise just after some old stone walls on the left. This is at SO 080 569. Follow the track gently uphill for about 1.5 miles.
On the way to the site The scenery is beautiful here and on the track you might find fossil trilobites in the road stone that come from the shale quarry near the track uphill. (The quarry is private) Just after the small quarry continue uphill to where the track bends sharply to the left. Near here is a gate on the right, go through this and you should see the trig point on the hilltop ahead to the east. Head east with the hilltop to your right and go through a second gate. Ahead you should first see the outlier stone on a rise among tall grass. The circle is about 120m to the east just inside the wire fence of the next field.
We counted seven standing and several more around the circumference but a few of these were loose and not bedded into the soil so may not be original. There is a wide shallow mound and it appears that a second circle may have joined to this one as the circle occupies the western section of it and double circles are a common feature around Powys.
