Gunnerkeld Take the road north from Shap then turn right. This road goes over the motorway then turn first left and take the next left down to a farm. We tried to ask permission to visit the site at the farmhouse but nobody was in which was a pity as access to the site was difficult. The lane leads towards the motorway where you can see the circle but cannot cross the wall or stream to get to it. Access seems to be through some of the fields and we didn’t want to wander around without asking. The circle is right
beside the M6 southbound and it is built up on a raised bank. There are
two rings visible even from a distance. A return visit is needed.
