Kerry Hill
Stone Circle
SO 158 860

From Newtown take the A489 east towards Craven Arms and just after Kerry turn right on the B4368. after about 3 miles you pass through some woods, stop in the carpark in the trees before the circle as there is no access from the road as it is fenced and the fields are full of livestock. The carpark is on the Kerry Ridgeway footpath, an ancient track that probably has associations with the nearby circle. The track originally stretched to the River Severn. Take the track ENE through the trees and carry on through a gate along the line of trees. When you reach the end of the trees the track bends to the SSE and goes to an electric fence. The circle is beyond this fence to the west of the track. You can see the stones from further along the track.

The circle consists of 9 sandstone slabs and boulders in a 24m diameter circle. Near the centre is a 1.2m (4ft) fallen pillar. The long axis of the circle is roughly east-west and to the east two stones are set closely together, one flat topped and the other pointed.

A bull was grazing right beside the stones and kept staring, therefore there are no close-ups of this site! This explains the electric fence.
