  Corwen
Modern Stone Circle
Denbighshire, North Wales
Coming from Llangollen on the A5 after you enter the town of Corwen look for a church on the left set back from the road. There is parking space on the main road or a car park just at the next right turn. Walk to the church (signposted at the main road) and go into the churchyard. Take the right path before you reach the church and follow this out of the churchyard into a lane. (Just to the right of the church itself is the stump of a 12th century cross.) Turn right and take the grassy track ahead uphill for about 0.5 mile.

This Eisteddfod circle was built in 1919 for the opening of the National Victory Eisteddfod held in Corwen following the 1st World War.

The circle is fairly overgrown and the stones are well weathered. There are the usual 12 stones with central platform set in a small ring in the trees. You can carry on to the viewpoint at the top for views but it was misty and quite muddy when we were here in December 02 (boots recommended.)

It is a pleasant spot to sit and is near a small stream and waterfall
