From the farm turn right and continue along the lane . Go past the picnic spot for about a mile and turn right towards Youlgreave. Turn left at the church and continue through Alport then turn right after about a mile. Go past a turning signed Birchover and park in a layby after about ½ mile. Follow the footpath on the right towards a rocky outcrop called Robin Hood’s Stride.
Robin Hood’s Stride. Continue to the gate and you will see the footpath continues to the northwest. To the north you will see the four stones of Nine Stones Close and the standing stone in the wall blocking access to it. The wall also has barbed wire on it and as the mud was so deep here we decided to come back another day and find a better route to it. These are the tallest stones in Derbyshire and they looked impressive on the skyline.
