Stone Circle and henge

Go
back to the A92 and turn right then immediately left on the B969. Head
down to the roundabout that has a modern stone circle on it (NO 278 034)
and follow the sign to the henge by taking the left here. Take the 2nd
left of the road and look for the roads named “Henge” that will take
you to the centre where there are parking spaces.
The wide henge is in the centre of a ring of houses and small trees and is well looked after. The housing estate has been designed around the henge.
The wide henge at Balfarg
This site has been partially reconstructed. Markers show where the original timber circle, measuring about 25m diameter, stood. Five more timber circles also stood inside and outside the main circle, these are not indicated. At a later date two concentric rings of stone were added, one was 50m and the other 64m diameter but only two stones remain at the causeway to the henge where two larger timber posts are positioned to the SW.

Modern Stone Circle

This circle consists of 8 to 9 large sandstone slabs set around a heavily planted roundabout on the way to the henge on the B969 just off the A92.
