SX 659 861

Follow the route to Scorhill circle to reach Batworthy Farm. Park in the space by the bridge. Walk SW along the path by the wall and trees and at the end of the trees turn south to the multiple rows of Shovel Down. You will soon come to them as you walk uphill.

View from the multiple stone circle and two large fallen stones towards the stone avenue

View of some of the stone rows

The first stone avenue is almost 200m long and 1m wide and leads up to a stone circle with multiple rings. Where it joins the circle there are two large fallen stones.  The circle is quite small at about 8.5m across but contains three concentric rings of stone.

The avenue leading to the south

There are several stone rows here and one heads uphill to the south and carries on over the hilltop to a large standing stone called the Long Stone that reaches nearly 10.5ft (3.2m)

There are six stone rows in the Shovel Down ceremonial complex.
