Description of Enumeration Districts.    


ED 10                        Folios 4-20                   832  persons

Hexham Township (part of)  in Hexham Parish.

All that   part of Hexham   called Dean Street, the South Side of Priestpople including
all the Broadgates and to Adam Scott's House inclusive, with the East side of the
Skinnersburn to Wood's Houses inclusive, and the North side of Priestpople beginning
with Miss Barrett's Properteys? and ending with Mr Ridley's two Houses and the Cottage in the
Saw Mill Yard.


ED 11                         Folios 24-38                 704  persons

Hexham Township (part of)   in Hexham Parish.

All that   part of the Town of Hexham   on the West side of Skinnersburn;
commencing with William Baty's property; up the South side of the Battle Hill,
and Hencoates Street, and ending with a house called the Three Tuns; The North
side of the Battle Hill and Hencoates Street, commencing with Matthew Smith's
Houses, and ending with Mrs Davidson's Buildings.

Explanatory Notes and Practical Observations.
That portion of the Buildings, sometimes called Davison's, Situate on the North
side of Cockshaw Burn, is appropriately distinguished by the name of Brink Burn
Cottages.
This District also includes Temperley Place, and the Suburb of Bellman's Close.

commencing with the White Hart property including Herdmans House, the
East side of the Market Place, the North and South sides of the Hall Style Bank
beginning with Miss Watson's House on the North, together with Mr Wood's House
(Hall Style Cottage), the Garden House, Tyne Mills, the Railway Station, the Railway
Tavern and Wear and Brown's Cottages opposite, Wentworth Place, and all the
Houses within the Hall Gate and on the Hall Orchard Bank and the Bank
Head, also all that part of the Market Place commencing with Michael
Taylor's House and so Westward round the Corner past James Wilson's
House and so along the South Side of Pudding Row to Michael Taylor's
House again.

houses at the Bow Bridge belonging to James Smith and Francis
Robison at the South End of the Fore Street also the Grey Bull Inn
and from thence along the whole of the West side of the Fore Street
up the Butchers Shambles the East side of the Old Church Way down
the North side of the Meat Market up the South side of the Meat
Market along the East and West sides of the Back Street commencing
on the West side with Mrs Spoors House and so northward along the
West side of the Old Church Way.

place, commencing with Mrs Thompson's house,and running along

the South West side of Gilligate to the Quay side adjoining Gilligate
Barn, and Glover's Place to Ords workshop inclusive, and all those
houses called the Holy Island.

thence along the North Side of Pudding Row, the North East Side of Market Street,

together with William Stainthorpe's Houses and others, in the Haugh Lane.
