Coma trace, part III. Last of three recordings from a patient following cardiorespiratory arrest. The original clinical improvement had not been maintained and the patient was unresponsive to painful stimuli. The IPPV was discontinued and she was allowed to breathe spontaneously with 30% oxygen. At the start of the recording the amplitude has fallen from the level in part II, and there has been a shift to lower frequencies. Shortly afterwards the amplitude began to decline further and as it approaches 1uV some higher frequency activity appears. At (1) respiration ceased and at (2) there was no palpable pulse.
