In A) the average frequency is lower than in B) and C). Although within each record there is little change of smoothed frequency distribution with state of awareness, when examined numerically there are small but significant differences in frequency measures between states which are helpful in automatically recognising states of awareness and age. However the major differences are clearly in the amplitude distributions. Examples taken from a data set collected by C J Sutton.
