Examples of CFM and CFAM formats
Two channel recording from a neonate, replayed at 30cm.hr. (Recorded on CFAM3c)
The left hemisphere recording is of lower amplitude than the right as a result of a haemorrhage . See www.cfams.com for more detail.
The CFM plot keeps the standard CFM procedure of plotting below the 0uV baseline during an input amplifier overload, whereas the CFAM just stops plotting.
RDM recommend this mode for initial neonatal recordings. Asymmetries can be detected by staff before ultrasound imaging is available. Note at 6cm.hr it would be difficult to see the morphology of the peaks in the record or to assess their intervals.
The same consideration applies when attempting to count the frequency of suppressions at times when these are present in a record.
