Mercy Corps Mongolia supports rural communities to meet their economic and social needs, helping individuals, families and communities to become more self-sufficient, diversified in their production, and better linked to local, regional and national markets. Over the past five years Mercy Corps Mongolia has established a strong reputation across the vast Gobi region, and continues to work with business associations and local organizations to ensure a robust economy that preserves ancient traditions.
Currently they run the following projects in Mongolia: Gobi Regional Economic Growth Initiatives (Gobi Initiative), Rural Agribusiness Support Program (RASP) and the Training, Advocacy and Networking Programme.
The Charities
As you've probably guessed the whole rally is organised primarily for charity. Last year it raised over £200,000 for charities all around the world. The charities we've chosen to raise for are MercyCorps Mongolia, The Christina Noble Foundation and Cancer Research UK, below you can find a little information on the ways in which they all try to make the World that little bit easier for the people who need it most.
Hope and Homes for Children is a registered charity working in 12 countries in Central and Eastern Europe and Africa. Our head office is based in Wiltshire in the UK.
Our Mission
To give hope to the poorest children in the world - those who are
orphaned, abandoned or vulnerable - by enabling them to grow up within the
love of a family and the security of a home, so that they can fulfill their potential.
Institutionalisation can have a severe effect on a child’s life from causing developmental delays to bringing out autistic tendencies through to self-harming behaviour and physical disability.
At Hope and Homes for Children we believe that every child has the right to grow up with the love and care of a family. This is why we are working with governments to not only close state institutions, by moving each individual child into a caring family environment, but also to change outdated attitudes to childcare policy and practice. Closing institutions is just the beginning, not the end and we are helping governments put in place the alternative care systems that prevent children from entering institutions in the first place.

Cancer is common – around 285,000 new cases are diagnosed each year in the UK. At Cancer Research UK we are working hard to improve our understanding of cancer and develop better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease.
