Just to let you know that there should be an interview and photo of Amelia in Sunday's (2nd January 2005) Observer newspaper magazine in the UK.
See you all next year!
Jill sent me this link to an MTV Set Visit Aeon Flux article. It is an Aeon Flux set visit article that appears on www.mtv.com but nothing has appeared on the airwaves (she watched all week). Interesting, it mentions... SPOILER... Aeon avenging her sister's death - did she have more than one sister or is Amelia's role brief?
Sorry about the lack of updates. I've had a couple of things to add and I will get around to it! Thanks to the contributors. And thanks again to Gina. I've now seen Nine Lives and I ended up almost liking it. I guess that comes from having rock-bottom expectations. It was very nice to see Amelia running around a haunted house with a big knife. There was also a nice little interview clip with her. And as a bonus Paris Hilton was the first to be killed off! Remember, keep your expectations low and you just might like it!
Anna discovered a news story that suggests that Winter Passing will be screened at the Sundance Film Festival: story
Thanks to Gina for sending me a copy of Nine Lives. I will post a review once I've seen it.
Viewers in the UK can see Quills on Channel 4 on Saturday 20 November 2004.
I just noticed this evening that there are DVDs of the TV series Kavanagh Q.C. for sale in the UK. Amelia appeared in the first episode of season 4.
Anna has discovered that Love's Brother will be released on dvd in Switzerland in December. Click here for cover art.
Info about the Australian Special Edition can be found here.
"At the Q&A after the second (and totally packed) showing, Adam was asked a question about Amelia (or Millie as he called her in answer). How stunningly beautiful she is, what a joy to work with, that we may have seen her in Quills, Lorna Doone, and that Winter Passing will be coming out soon, etc. He then went on to mention that she was currently filming with Charlize Theron and couldn’t attend but, wait for it, he added that she would be doing 'several independent films in London' next."
Just to confirm that Amelia is still working on Aeon Flux.
There's a lot to get through this morning...
Lets do the big news first... Amelia has just started work on The Wild and Wycked World of Brian Jones. The movie, directed by Stephen Woolley focuses on the final days of the life of the Rolling Stone. Amelia plays Janet Lawson, the girlfriend of road manager Tom Keystone. Cast includes, David Morrisey, Paddy Considine and Monet Mazur. Leo Gregory is playing Brian Jones.
(Does that mean she's not working on Aeon Flux any more?)
Another great find from Anna who sent me a link to a gallery of images from Alpha Male. You can find it at www.nicoladovephotography.com. There are a few photos of Amelia in there including one shot in particular that is lovely. =sigh=
Gina was watching Access Hollywood (or Extra) "and they showed a clip of Winter Passing Will Ferrell and Amelia and two other people are around the dinner table and they are about to pray over their food. It was a really short clip but Amelia looked really cute. They said that it's coming out in the spring."
So it's a busy time for our Millie...
Great stuff! Anna found Aeon Flux news on Yahoo. Filming is due to recommence on Monday.
Anna found a new Loves Brother DVD cover at www.girl.com.au. And while I'm on the subject, does anyone know a good UK source for Region 4 DVDs?
There is a listing on ebay for the Dutch version of Nine Lives, only the title has been changed to The Terror. It claims to be a legit version.
Jill says she has posted a message on the forum at adamgarcia.net concerning some scheduled US screenings of Love's Brother. There are 14 opportunities over 7 days at the Heartland Film Festival in Indianapolis. All of the times, dates and locations for the screenings, as well as seminars and special events, are on their website www.heartlandfilmfestival.org.
The BBC (among other sources) is reporting that Charlize Theron was injured on the set of Amelia's new movie Aeon Flux. They report: "Filming on the futuristic action movie in Berlin is expected to start up again in several weeks to allow the 29-year-old actress time to recover." You can read the full story here.
[Anna, I got your emails okay. If you still don't get my replies then let me know!]
Anna made a great Alpha Male find at reuters...
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - English actress Amelia Warner is starring in "Alpha Male" opposite Danny Huston and Jennifer Ehle.
The film's producer Trudie Styler, the wife of Sting, also has a role. Dan Wilde directs the indie project, which is shooting in London.
Warner is playing the daughter in a dysfunctional family who is trying to come to terms with her life following the death of her father.
She'll follow that up with a role as the sister of Charlize Theron's character in "Aeon Flux." Based on Peter Chung's futuristic MTV animated series, the Paramount Pictures project stars Theron as a top assassin. Warner next stars in "Winter Passing" for Focus Features.
Jill sent me some more Aeon Flux info:
Hot off the PRNewswire – Amelia Warner will be joining the cast of AEON FLUX, a science fiction action drama movie being made of Peter Chung’s popular futuristic MTV animated series.
Charlize Theron, Marton Csokas, Johnny Lee Miller, Sophie Okonedo, Caroline Chikezie and Frances McDormand are also on board.
Directed by Karyn Kusama. Produced by Gale Ann Hurd, David Gale, Gary Lucchesi and Greg Goodman. Executive producers Tom Rosenberg and Van Toffler. Screenplay – Phil Hay and Matt Manfedi. Characters created by Peter Chung. Valhalla Motion Pictures and MTV Films production.
AEON FLUX is set 400 years in the future, when disease has wiped out the majority of the earth’s population except for one walled protected city-state, Bregna, ruled by a congress of scientists. Theron plays the title role of AEON FLUX, the top operative in the underground “Monican” rebellion, led by the Handler (McDormand). When Aeon is sent to kill the government’s leader (Csokas as Chairman Trevor Goodchild), she uncovers a world of secrets, which makes her question everything she thought she knew.
Johnny Lee Miller is Trevor’s younger brother, Oren Goodchild, who believes in the order of the city-state and seeks to crush the rebellion.
Sophie Okonedo has the role of Aeon’s protégé and rebel operative, Sithandra.
Amelia Warner plays Aeon’s beloved sister, Una Flux.
Caroline Chikezie (currently seen as Elaine Hardy in the Brit series The Footballers) will play Freya, a loyal aide to Trevor Goodchild.
Variety reported that Paramount is paying Charlize “nearly $USD10 million” for this role.
Filming started production in early August in Berlin for a 2005 theatrical release. While in Germany, production will take place at Studio Babelsberg in Potsdam.
A message posted at the adamgarcia.net forum said that for Aussies, the Love’s Brother SPECIAL EDITION DVD will be available for purchase December 8th. Extras include director commentary, cast interviews, photo gallery, behind-the-scenes footage. The version currently available for rent at Blockbusters in Oz has no extras on it.
Thanks Jill!
Anna alerted me to a very odd "trailer" for Alpha Male located at www.greendoorfilms.com.
Good news from Jill – Love’s Brother DVD/VHS will be available for rental in Asutralia (Region 4) on 11 August according to www.dvdusergroup.com.au and www.blockbuster.com.au.
This just in: Straight after Aeon Flux Amelia starts filming Alpha Male, with Danny Huston, Trudie Styler and Jennifer Ehle. It's written and directed by Dan Wilde who won the New York Film Festival award for his short film Bookcruncher.
The page is moving back to geocities:
uk.geocities.com/jackelcheapo/ameliawarner.
Sorry for all the moves this year!
Steve has added the ES magazine article to www.ameliawarner.com. I have stolen the six images and put them on the photos page. The actual words of the article can be found on the offical page. Also while you're over there you should check out the three new photos of Amelia. I'm very taken by the one where she's looking over her left shoulder. =sigh=
No Aeon Flux news to speak of. Hopefully we'll know more when shooting starts next month. In the meantime I was wondering what Aeon Flux looks like. Here's the DVD cover from Amazon:
Will Charlize Theron be wearing that?
I thought I had reported the German release date for Loves Brother but I see I didn't. So I'm doing it now! It's 29 July 2004.
Let's do the big news right away! Amelia is about to start work on a movie called Aeon Flux. It's based on the animated series by Peter Chung which was first shown on MTV in 1991. Charlize Theron is playing Aeon Flux and Amelia is playing her sister Una.
A web search tells me that it's "set 1,000 years in the future, when disease has wiped out the population save for one city. The acrobatic title character is the top operative in an underground rebellion, but when sent on a mission to kill the government's leader, she uncovers a secret making her question if she's on the right side." Principal photography commences in August in Germany.
Anna found some more high quality photos of Loves Brother here at a site in Switzerland outnow.ch Click on "Die Bilder" on the right of the site to see the gallery. Warning! They look like "spoilers"!!!
Anna tells me that Love's Brother is going to be released in Germany (and Switzerland, it seems). A translation of the title means An Italian Weddng".
Anna found a great gallery with 19 images from Love's Brother at www.kino.de. There are some nice Amelia pics there. The final picture is what appears to be a German language version of the poster. Is it getting a German release?
She also found a site called www.highbeam.com that allows searches of old newspaper articles. Some Amelia stuff turns up on a search. The catch is that you have to pay.
Both Anna and Gina have alerted me to some Amelia pics at photoagency called www.splashnews.com. The pictures are very small but Anna found high quality versions of some of them in the Colin Farrell Forum at www.colinfarrelfansite.org. Go to "Newly Aquired Photos *UPDATED* New PICS..." and go to pages 5 and 6.
Titooy sent me smaller versions of the lovely Amelia pictures from the official Love's Brother site. I decided to post them here on my pictures page. You can get the full-size ones off the official site if you want them. And you should.
I also decided to adjust the look of the site and added the background picture that you should be seeing on the left of the screen. That took about five minutes. However, you will have no idea how long it took me to redesign the logo. I must have spent an hour trying to incorporate the cute picture of Amelia biting her lip from Esquire. Then I gave up and went for the text only masterpiece you can see above. Still, I do think the site is looking fairly nifty. Humour me.
Does anyone have a copy of the ES mag from a few months ago? The one with Amelia on the cover? Would you be willing to do some quality scans? Please?
Here's the first of the Australian scans. Thanks to Caz and Jill for sending me the "stuff"!
Anna got in touch to tell me about www.uppa.co.uk where there are some nice press pictures of amelia. Another site is www.intertopics.com but the pictures are small.
I had been considering buying a copy of Nine Lives on DVD. Then Niki sent me a review she found and I changed my mind! You can read the review at www.dvdtalk.com, but I've included a couple of comments below...
"For a DVD reviewer with a passion for peppering his self-indulgent rants with bits of weak attempts at obvious humor, Nine Lives is a shrinkwrapped gift from the heavens above. For people who actually spend money on DVDs...not so much."
But later on the reviewer sees something worth watching...
"Hilton's molded, artificial facial features aside, the female cast members are at least pleasant to look at. Amelia Warner in particular is a complete knockout."
Er... Maybe I'll buy it after all... =ahem=
Niki also found a snippet of an article at irishabroad.com. You need to be a member to access the whole article.
"Colin’s Women Spread Their Wings - IT was nearly three years ago that Colin Farrell “married” his former girlfriend, English actress Amelia Warner, in some sort of Tahitian ceremony. It’s never been too clear whether the thing was legally binding, but the former “Mrs.” Farrell has lots of fond memories of her ex . . . and a few gripes, too. more... " (Irish Voice) 2 June 2004
Finally I've been send a bunch of nice Love's Brother goodies from Oz and I'll hopefully have another update for you soon...
I've done two new scans of Amelia. One is the picture from Esquire magazine last year. The other is a new scan of an existing Lorna Doone photo. You can find them below and on the photos page.
By the way, I've just noticed that there is a DVD of Don Quixote listed on UK stores. Well, it was news to me!
Jill sent me this at the weekend but I've been a lazy fart:
Love’s Brother won 3 awards at WorldFest – The 37th Houston Film and Video Festival – this week. It received a gold Remi statuette, the Grand Award for Best Feature as well as Best Director (Jan Sardi) and Best Cinamatography (Andrew Lesnie). There is no US or UK distributor at this time although they are in ‘talks’ with interested parties. This film will continue to be shown on the festival circuit. It’s upcoming festival screenings will be announced at the official film website www.lovesbrother.com
Scans of the ES article can be found in the news section of www.colinfarrellfansite.org. Thanks to Niki and Mary for both alerting me!
This will be of interest if you live in the London area. I've just found out that there is a feature on Amelia in today's ES Magazine which comes with the London Evening Standard. I found this little cover image on www.thisislondon.co.uk.
Jill has sent along some Australian press coverage for Loves Brother. Below you can find a press clipping and two articles.
Amelia's movie Nine Lives is being released on region 1 DVD on May 11th. I suspect it's a cash-in situation related to Paris Hilton being in it. Here's the cover.
This webpage will be moving in the next couple of weeks to a new
location. The new address will very likely be
www.elcheapo.plus.com/ameliawarner
so make a note now.
I had hoped to bring you an Australian interview with Amelia but as it turns out she has cancelled her Australian publicity. Why? It's a good reason. She apparently got a screen test in the USA!
Jill has sent a bunch of Love’s Brother updates:
Production stills: Palace Films FINALLY posted some new production stills at their Love’s Brother listing. There are some rather nice, professional photos of Amelia (some over 300kb!).
Sneak Previews: The www.lovesbrother.com website has listed 44 theaters (all in OZ) which will be having sneak previews Friday, Saturday, Sunday March 26, 27, 28.
Publicity Tour: That website also has released a bit more information about the publicity tour. Amelia, Adam and writer/director Jan Sardi will be on a 2 week tour hitting all of the major cities Down Under (starting last Monday with the Sydney premiere). On Tuesday March 22nd, they will be at a Melbourne screening followed by a premiere in Daylesford at the City Hall. The film was shot in the surrounding area outside of Melbourne and the City Hall will be transformed back to its 1920 movie hall roots for the event. A fan did post at the adamgarcia.net forum to report that she had heard a rumour that they would be appearing in Perth on the 25th at the Ace Cinema in Subiaco.
Press: The Sydney Morning Herald had an interview with Jan Sardi (video footage too) but he didn’t mention his stars at all, focusing on filmmaking. www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/03/17/1079199286785.html
Another Down Under update from Caz via Jill. This is Tuesday’s Daily Telegraph (Sydney newspaper). The article has a major hometown boy slant to it, barely a mention of Amelia, but the photo is rather nice. You can click on the thumbnail to enlarge it.
No, Adam's legs are not that short!
I hope to have a little something for you all in the next day or two. Stay tuned...
Once again it's big thanks to Jill for this Love's Brother premiere update. Also thanks to Caz in Syndey for letting me use the photos of Amelia. (These photos also appear at adamgarcia.co.uk)
"Adam and Amelia arrived together by limo and he accompanied Amelia down the 10 foot long Red Carpet in a 5 minute dash."
"Not a large crowd, nothing like you would see in London, NY or LA. While Adam signed autographs and greeted friends. There was a small crowd, mostly family and friends of those involved in the filming (perhaps only 20 fans), along with a few newspaper reporters and 1 TV camera."
"Unfortunately Caz didn’t get a good picture of them together She said during the time between her pressing the button on her digital camera and when the picture was actually taken, people kept walking in front of her. The Red Carpet was very relaxed, no barriers or anything. (Tom in the blue shirt, standing with Amelia, is Adam’s older brother.)"
Publicity should be continuing over the coming days.
Niki let me know that there are some recent photos of Amelia at wireimage.com. (I don't think they are related to Loves Brother.) Here are a couple of thumbnails:
"It has been reported today in The Daily Telegraph (Sydney Confidential gossip section) that the LOVE’S BROTHER premiere will be held this upcoming Monday [15 March] in Sydney. The premiere kicks off at the Palace Cinema in Leichhardt about 6.30 pm. The stars that will be attending are: Adam Garcia, Amelia Warner, Barry Otto and Reg Mombassa."
I bought a copy of InStyle (UK) today and Amelia is indeed in the magazine. It took me a while to find her but she is on page 137. I've scanned the photo and you can click on the thumbnail image below.
(She's sitting beside "Moschino's creative director Rossella Jardini" in case you were wondering.)
A couple of people have been in touch to tell me that Amelia was in the March 2004 issue of InStyle UK. I saw "was in" because the issue presently on the shelves is dated April 2004! I'm trying to track down the March issue and when I get my hands on it I will report back and hopefully do a scan.
UPDATE! I've heard that it's actually the April issue. I'll confim that later when I've bought a copy.
A request to Australian fans of Amelia: please be on the lookout for TV and print coverage in the immediate future. I understand that Amelia will be in Australia for a press tour for Love’s Brother.
Jill tells me that Aintitcoolnews.com had posted Quint’s interview with Adam Garcia and can be accessed at www.aintitcool.com. Halfway down, he mentions how Amelia (or as he calls her Millie) is just one of the boys…. and there is a lovely picture from the film.
Jill let me know that sometime over the weekend the official Love’s Brother website was updated. There's a fair bit of info on the movie to be found and the movie appears to be opening in Australia in April. No sign of UK or other release dates yet. If you're an Australian you should head over to the site to try and win tickets to some previews in March.
I found a Love’s Brother page at www.moviebus.com and I found a new official site at www.lovesbrother.com.
I've moved the pages yet again, this time to geocities. Please bookmark this location.
Jill kindly sent along some more Love’s Brother info. There's a very positive review posted on aintitcoolnews and I've quoted a couple of the Amelia comments below just because I like them...
"Mark my words, this film will be the launching point for many of tomorrow's stars. Specifically, I predict in the next few years you'll see Adam Garcia's face on the cover of many teeny-bopper magazines as well as the jaw-dropingly beautiful Amelia Warner posing in the pages of Maxim or another like magazine to the glee of all red-blooded heterosexual males in the world."
"She is flat out amazing in this film. Her character doesn't talk much, but gazing into her eyes you have an immediate understanding of her state of mind. Her hazel eyes reflects her character more than 10,000 words can. Her beauty is just stunning and it's easy to see why a person can fall in love with her with one grainy photo."
Jill notes that the reviewer attended the Thursday screening. The Saturday screening was called the World Premiere and was to be followed by a Q&A session with Jan Sardi and Adam Garcia.
By the way, I got my hands on the UK Glamour mag that featured Amelia and I shall be attempting some scans...
Jill got in touch to tell me that the long-awaited Love’s Brother will have two showings in the International Competition at the Santa Barbara Film Festival on the 5th and 7th of february. More info can be found at the festival’s website www.sbfilmfestival.org.
Over on the Official site (www.ameliawarner.com) there are a couple of lovely new pictures from Glamour magazine.
I'm trying out a new look for the site. Hopefully all the links still work! Let me know if anything is behaving oddly.
