2001 News & Site Updates

14 August 2001

I got stuck into The Untouchable over the weekend and finished it last night. I've added my review here.

3 August 2001

I'm pleased to report that I've bought my copy of The Untouchable. I found it in my local bookshop this afternoon, although the offical publishing date is Monday. I'll take my time reading the 448 pages as it will be at least a year until the next book appears. I'll let you know what I thought when I finish it.

By the way, there's an offer for a free Seymour paperback if you send in your reciept. There's a choice of Harry's Game, Killing Ground, The Waiting Time and A Line in the Sand.

A couple of days ago Amazon UK finally posted a large image of the new book cover. Click here to see it!

Roland sent me this link for Gerald Seymour's apperance at the Edinburgh Book Festival in August.

Finally a cover image has appeared for The Untouchable. I found this image on the official transworld site where you can also find another blurb. The publication date is still set for 6 August 2001. It's interesting that it seems to be a totally new cover design from the last few books.

I've started a newish look for the site, plus a new links page.

Here we go! I found the following "blurb" at www.twbooks.co.uk, quite a useful thriller information site if you can put up with their crazy frames navigation system.

Gerald Seymour The Untouchable

In London Albert William Packer, known as Mister, is master of all he surveys. His core business is heroin, bought from the Turks in Green Lanes and distributed around the capital. After yet another police case against him collapses, he decides to travel to Sarajevo to expand his empire further - but he is followed by Home Office archivist Joey Cann, who is determined to find a way to bring Packer to justice.

In the war-torn and dismal surroundings of that city, where law and order are administered by the gangster warlords, Packer attempts to gain a foothold in new territory. Meanwhile Joey chips away at what is known about the man, uncovering more every day, until he has sufficient momentum to confront him directly ...

The US TV movie The Informant (based on Field of Blood) will be on UK digital channel Carlton Cinema on Thursday 31 May 2001 at 9pm. It stars Timothy Dalton and should be worth a look.

24 April 2001

Gerald's agent's site (www.pfd.co.uk) is listing his forthcoming book as Meaning no Evil, to be published in January 2002. Make of that what you will.

New book news! Amazon uk now has a listing for an "untitled" Gerald Seymour novel to be published on 6 August 2001. These things are always subject to change, but at least it gives us an idea of when it will probably appear. It remains to be seen if it will be called Groundfire...

1 February 2001

Gerald Seymour was interviewed on BBC Radio Ulster tonight to promote the paperback of Holding the Zero which should be in the shops any time now. I was hoping for word on Groundfire but it wasn't mentioned, except for a comment on just completing his latest "script" after visiting Sarajavo. I assume he was referring to the new novel. I was lucky to have a tape at hand and made a recording, so I may get a transcript done and put on the page. Gerald also mentioned that A Line in the Sand starts filming in March.
