Traffik Episode Summaries |
I found the following episode descriptions online when Channel 4 repeated Traffik during April & May 2001. I have rewritten a few for clarity. (The episode titles were not displayed on screen but were listed in various TV guides.) The Farmer A pursuit of the international heroin trade across Germany, Britain and Pakistan. A recently destroyed drugs ring re-opens its supply route under the noses of the German Police. Meanwhile in England, British politician Jack Lithgow finds himself in conflict with the opium farmers of the North-West Frontier of Pakistan. Winner of Best Drama Series Award from BAFTA and the International Emmy Awards. (1hr) The Addict A pursuit of the international heroin trade. Fazal is forced to Karachi, but his family are rather unhappy with life there. In Germany, Helen ponders her husband's arrest whilst being hounded by his creditors; and in England Jack faces a threatened customs strike and his report to the Commons on the heroin problem takes on a new dimension as the problem becomes personal. (1hr5mins) The Criminal Fazal's family are not convinced that life in Karachi is better than life on the North-West Frontier but Fazil is still determined to impress Tariq Butt. Meanwhile, in England, Jack is trying to head off a threatened customs strike. (1hr) The Chemist In Pakistan Fazal accompanies Tariq on his visit to the North-West Frontier to supervise the conversion of his opium crop into heroin. As Karl's trial begins in Germany, Helen finds herself planning the unthinkable. As the customs dispute worsens in Britain, Jack must confront the dilemma of his personal and political life. (1hr5mins) The Politician In Pakistan Jack is shown the reality of the war against drugs and questions the usefulness of the treaty he is supposed to sign. Helen flys to Karachi to meet Tariq Butt and make a dangerous agreement. In Hamburg Ulli becomes obsessed with Helen's plans to traffik heroin. (1hr5mins) The Courier In the final episode Fazal is in prison, and his only hope of release is for his family to become part of Tariq Butt's trafficking operation. Ulli believes he has uncovered Helen's smuggling route and Jack returns from Pakistan to discover that Rachel has moved out and Caroline is nowhere to be found. (1hr15mins) |
