The Cannes 2001 photos have been moved to a new server and they now comprise Gallery 5.
I found a Prime Gig page here with interesting poster art.
Bad news for fans of Julia's long hair! She's gone and cut it! Check out Wireimage and do a search for Julia. She was at "A Time For Heroes To Benefit The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, 6/9/2002" and one photo appears in the June 24 2002 issue of People magazine. Here's three thumbnail images to give you the idea...
Thanks to Jo for the alert. Anyone want to scan the People pic for me? I have to admit I've always liked short-hair Julia so I have no problem!
Kim has reminded me about the DVD release of Captives...
"The DVD had, dissapointingly, no extras. Nothing at all related to Julia or the film. There were, instead, sneak preview clips of about 5 different films. Grumble! The disc is English/French, which is understandable, it being Canadian. The film's title in French is "Captifs Amour" The disc is amazingly clear in its digital presentation, with crispness you just can't get in a video."
Even without the extras I am tempted...
I did a "resistance" search and found this fragment of a Bill Paxton interview...
Roxanne Bogucka: Okay, well let’s start with that. You were in Holland, working on what?
Bill Paxton: I’ve just finished a movie. It was a World War II love story based on an Anita Shreve novel called Resistance. And I’m opposite a great actress, Julia Ormond, in that.
RB: When will that come out? Do you know?
BP: God, I don’t know. They just finished it and I’m not sure... it was made, it was a Dutch production, with kind of an international cast so I don’t know what their distribution deal is...
Jo found a May 2001 story about another Julia film that I assume never happened. You can read about it here. It's "Façade, a $25m heist thriller which teams Voight with Julia Ormond under director Danny Cannon".
Caption: "Actress Julia Ormond attends a reception after the Vital Voices awards ceremony honoring courageous women leaders all over the world at the Kennedy Center May 16, 2002 in Washington, DC."
Mari Sent me this article from People.

Field, Ormond Address Female Slavery
Oscar winner Sally Field and "First Knight" star Julia Ormond joined U.S. Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Kay Bailey Hutchison in Washington, D.C., late last week to denounce the international trafficking of women, reports PEOPLE.
"I think it's spread like wildfire," Ormond, 37, told the magazine of the slave trade. "It's a $7 billion industry that rivals the drug trade. And it's in people! And one of the reasons, I understand, for its growth is that people can be sold again and again."
The actress, who has played Catherine the Great and has worked in Russia, says she intends to develop a film about the trafficking of women from the former Soviet Union. "I feel an affinity in particular for the Russian women," she says. "I've seen the things that have happened to society and the pressures they've been under, and it's devastating. Clearly, prostitution was a way for Russian women to get into the dollar economy."
In Washington, Field, 55, and Ormond lent their voices to the Vital Voices Global Partnership, an organization that works to expand the political and business role of women in developing nations.
Asked about the indifference of some Americans regarding human rights in other countries, Field, who played an American woman trapped in Iran in the 1991 movie "Not Without My Daughter," told PEOPLE, "I don't think (many Americans) were aware of what was going on in Afghanistan until we were slammed in the face, and then we had to look and see what was uncovered. I think there are many inequalities and atrocities that are going on that need to be heard . . . and if we don't step outside our own cocoon and try to extend ourselves in a human way, I believe we are going to be in a sorry, helpless state."
I shall expect five extra hits to the site on Tuesday then.
"The 24-member delegation ... also included British actress Julia Ormond, who Boxer said spoke with Castro at dinner about the possibility of producing a documentary on ties between Americans and Cubans."
Righhhhtttttt.....
Check out your local Gap store for a giant Julia poster in the window. The new Empire magazing in the UK has included a small article about the actors appearing in the Gap ads, although it neglects to mention our Julia.
U.S. senator travels to Cuba for fact-finding mission
HAVANA - Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer arrived in Cuba on a fact-finding mission accompanied by a diverse delegation that includes a Grateful Dead drummer, a British actress and U.S. agricultural representatives.
The trip is sponsored by the Center for International Policy, a Washington-based nonprofit policy organization.
Boxer, who arrived Friday, serves on the Foreign Relations Committee, a fact that will not be lost on Cuban officials who have been lobbying lawmakers for help in easing U.S. policies toward the island, especially the 40-year-old trade embargo and restrictions on American travel.
U.S. agribusiness has been pressing for legislative changes that would allow Cuba to use American financing to buy their products under a 2-year-old law that allows direct sales of American food to the communist island for the first time in nearly four decades.
Boxer's state, California, grows more than half of the fruits and vegetables consumed in America.
Also along for the trip that wraps up on Monday are Mickey Hart, drummer for the Grateful Dead; British actress Julia Ormond, and Bill Mattos, president of the California Poultry Federation.
I've added seven high quality scans to Gallery 7. Some are close to 200 kb each so watch out!
While doing a "Resistance" search I discovered an article about Bill Paxton. It claimed that shooting on the movie has finished and that the story is based on the novel of the same name by Anita Shreve. That was news to me anyway. I almost ordered the thing but I've decided to wait until there's a tie-in edition. If I'm going to buy a book I won't be reading it won't hurt to wait until there's a picture of Julia on the cover.
Oh, and the site hits have jumped again. I got three times the normal visits on 31 March. Perhaps First Knight was on TV again.
I've added an old Julia interview found by Michael on a Russian site devoted to Barber.
Started Gallery 7 with three new high quality scans, including the Gap ad (be warned it's almost 200kb). Let me know what you think.
I find it interesting that they chose Julia for the ad. Not that I'm complaning! It's just that on the Gap site there were a bunch of different people modeling as well as Julia. For example I recognised Jennifer Garner of Alias fame. (Good show by the way.)
If anyone out there frequents Gap stores and sees a Julia poster then please let me know!
I shall be doing a high-quality scan in the near future. I'll probably have to set up a new gallery page on a new server because my current webspace is all but full up.
Yes, you read that right. The Gap website. Julia is modeling a sweater. Now, is it just me or is her hair short again. (Notice I say "again" even though it's six years since Sabrina...)
"The Hollywood Reporter's special issue to promote the American Film Market carries a full
page ad from CUE (Creative Union Entertainment). One of its four productions listed is

Garr, Whoopi Goldberg, Melanie Griffith, Daryl Hannah, Salma Hayek, Holly Hunter,

Mastroianni, Samantha Mathis, Catherine O'Hara, Julia Ormond, Gwyneth Paltrow, Martha
Plimpton, Charlotte Rampling, Vanessa Redgrave, Theresa Russell, Meg Ryan, Ally Sheedy,

Director: Rosanna Arquette
Synopsis: Rosanna Arquette talks to the biggest film actresses about
the pressures they face as women working in the entertainment industry.
The film not only captures the real lives of these icons, but also provides
all the range and emotion of a feature film."
Hi Jack !
Yesterday (Monday 18 February) I was an extra in "Resistance", filming in a farm
(transformed as a POW camp) in Bilstain, Belgium, where we shot scene # 181
(called "Claire is free, she's with the red cross").
Other locations in Belgium are Dinant, Limbourg, Clermont and Raeren.
The whole crew, including director Todd Komarnicki and stars Bill Paxton and
Julia Ormond are staying in two hotels in Spa. On February 24th, the crew will move to
an Amsterdam studio.
As an extra (there were only four on Monday, all dressed as German soldiers),
I was leaving the camp with Claire (Julia's character) and bringing her to a car
of the red cross. She was wearing an impressive make-up, as she was supposed to
be hit during the last few days by German SS soldiers.
Julia was charming. She introduced herself to each extra before filming ("Hello,
I'm Julia") and asked the name of each one. She was absolutely great. The weather
was VERY cold and it was raining all day. Anyway she was in a good mood and, as
you can imagine, acted perfectly.
Pictures were not allowed on the set when she or Mr. Paxton was there, but she
kindly signed my autograph book after the filming of "our" scene.
Hope this information will interest you. Sorry for my poor English . I am French-speaking.
Best Regards to all fans
I would like to thank Vincent for taking the time to let us know
about the new movie (It's actually happening!) and to assure
him that his English may very well be better than mine.

Anything in the region of 200 hits I would consider a good
day. So what happened on Feb 4th? Why did almost 700 people
need a Julia fix that day.
Penny has suggested that it might be because the previous day Sabrina was on
US television for those not interested in American football.
(This was followed by First Knight and then Smilla on HBO.)
I guess everyone went into work on Monday morning and though,
"Hey, I'd better look up the internet for that Binoche chick from Sabrina.
She was kinda hot. She was good in The English Patient too."
That's my take on it anyway. I guess it just goes to show
Julia can still make an impression six years on.
Six years, damnit!
Many thanks to Michael for his translation of a Russian
article from "Sem Dney" (Seven Days) about Julia that appeared at the start of the year.
Also thanks to Jo for her corrections of some bogus info
from the original piece. And thanks to Lettie for the alert.
There's also a few small pics of Julia from the mag.
Finally, is anyone else watching Smallville? I am hooked
and I think I'm sort of in love with Lana Lang...
My copy of The Prime Gig DVD arrived yesterday and I watched it last night.
Here are my initial reactions:
The UK video release is 11 March 2002.
"Saw The Prime Gig. I can only figure out that my favorite actress Julia
Ormond had a very large VISA bill to pay down and so she took this role.
This film gets stapled to Varian's War as a film that could have been
watchable if it had a Director and an Editor and a decent Script to
start with.
The acting was awful. The casting awful.
If someone could please figure out why Julia needed a dialect coach for
this film please leave a message on the message board.
Sorry Jules. I will pass on this one. I think you did also!!!!"
Almost interesting fact: On Julia's birthday my hit-counter recorded 465 visits. Ny normal
daily visits (to the intro page anyway) are usually in the range 130-150.
Finally I found a new photo of Julia at least year's Cannes thingy. Click
here to see it.
I think we can safely assume that Julia won't be involved with that
Baltic Storm movie. I went surfing and I found this
Estonia Ferry Site
that seems to be related to the investigation(s) and the movie. If you look
at the "cast" page they have a picture of Gretta Scacchi next to the description
of the journalist, which was of course the part Julia was to play. In any case
it looks like the movie is still in pre-production.
No more details on Resistance yet. Keep your eyes open.
Less than three weeks to the Gig DVD...
And just while I've got you here I'll ramble a little.
In the newsagents today I noticed that Hello magazine was claiming
to list the 25 most beautiful British women. I sneeked over when no one
was looking (it was down at the "women's" end of the shop, you know
pregancy magazines and hair styles and the like). Anyway I flicked through
it and discovered that Kate Beckinsale is Britian's most beautiful
woman. Rachel Weisz was something like number 24 and Liz Hurley and the Zeta were in there
somewhere as well (of bloody course). The point is there was no Julia. Then again I suppose
we shouldn't expect these magazine people to know their ass from their elbow.

Beryl found this:
22 February 2002
Just a warning that the BAFTAs are on BBC1 on Sunday night at 8pm.
It's unlikely that Julia will turn up this year as she's making
her movie, but you may want to force yourselves to sit through the
thing. I'll probably watch ER.
20 February 2002
Every now and then I get nice news. Like today...
I live in Spa, Belgium.

For what it's worth the Sunday Times today printed a positive
review of the rental/DVD release of The Prime Gig.
Strangely enough my local video rental place has three
copies of the video and one copy of the DVD on their shelves.
I was expecting exactly zero.
24 January 2002
I've just noticed that the Internet Movie Database has
added Resistance to their Julia entry. That's good enough for me so I've
added it to my movie list.
To sum up I would say it's worth checking out to get a Julia fix, but it's
no Captives or Smilla. Just keep your expectations down.
22 January 2002
Good news for Julia. She's just won the [take breath]
International Press Academy's Golden Satellite Award for Best Performance by an
Actress in a supporting role in a Miniseries or a Motion Picture Made for Television for
Varian's War.
That's not to be confused with the Golden Globes, but is good news in any case. Thanks
to Jo and Matt for the alert.
19 January 2002
Here's an update without any actual news. I just thought it
was time. The Prime Gig Region 2 DVD is supposed to be out on Monday. I ordered
mine from Play247 and I'll let you know if and when it arrives.
In the meantime this is what Penny thought of it...
2 January 2002
Happy birthday to Julia who is 37 on Friday 4th Jan. Not that she'll
be reading this, but ya never know... :))
