Justin Scott - a checklist

The Novels

The following is a list of the novels published under the name Justin Scott. I'm listing the US title followed by the British title where appropriate.

I will gradually add more cover images and descriptions.

Many Happy Returns (1973)

Deal Me out (as J.S. Blazer) (1973)

"Despite the grim situations that Donald gets himself into and the less than no good characters he rubs noses with, this is a charming and light hearted caper, one that will keep you tense and laughing at the same time."

Treasure for Treasure (1974)

"A partly constructed tunnel under the East River, NY would seem to be the most unlikely source of wealth and fame. This piece of good fortune resulted in the dazzling debut of a bungling bunch of amateur crooks."

Lend a hand (as J.S. Blazer) (1975)

"Bracken and James Rowland Woodward VII return to star in the second mystery by Blazer."

The Turning (1978)

The Shipkiller (1979)

Normandie Triangle (1981)

British title: The Man Who Loved the Normande.

The French ship Normande was one of the generation of luxurious ocean liners that ruled the waves between the wars after the Titanic and her sister ships were gone. After W.W.II broke out a nutural USA impounded the ship in New York harbour. But in early 1942 after the US entered the war they started to convert it as a troopship. It went on fire and water from firefighters caused it to capsize.

That much is fact, and this novel picks up the story with a naval architect who is working on the ship and discovers that there is a German agent working in the docks. The Germans are planing to use a u-boat to block NY harbour and hinder the Atlantic convoys. Excelent stuff and one of my all-time favorute thrillers.

A Pride of Royals (1982)

British title: A Pride of Kings

The Auction (1984)

Rampage (1986)

The Widow of Desire (1988)

British title: The Cossack's Bride

The Nine Dragons (1990)

British hardback title: The Hong Kong Edge

The Empty Eye of the Sea (1993)

As far as I know this book has not been printed in the USA. Pity, as it's a good 'un! It's the story of a tug crew venturing into the maelstrom of the North Atlantic to recover an abandoned cargo ship for salvage. Not only do they have to deal with the elements but there's a deranged killer on the ship.

A 20th century retelling of the classic story.

Hardscape (1994)

The first Ben Abbot mystery.
