Mol era (the hole in top of puppies
head ) * book
written by Mona Huxham reads that it is a sign of purity in Chihuahuas
MANY PEOPLE HAVE CONCERNS so maybe this link will help put your minds
at rest
-
-
this link above on Molera has
many other "must have" information well worth viewing ..
-

-
Chihuahuas
are a breed of dog that requires special, proficient veterinary
expertise
-
This is required mainly in the areas of birthing and dental
care.
-
However, they are quite prone to some genetic and usually
neurological anomalies like seizure disorders and epilepsy
-
.
Chihuahuas
are the only breed of dog that is born with incomplete skulls,
with soft spots called moleras.
-
These moleras fill with age, but the dog needs to be taken care
of during the process of complete skull formation,
-
That
is, during the first six months. Chihuahuas are prone to
hypoglycaemia,
-
that is, low blood sugar, eye infections and hydrocephaly, and
need to be attended to with great care and consideration.
-
-
However, while they are selective eaters, they should not be
unnecessarily overfed out of affection,
-
in that case their health will be affected adversely, and they
will be prone to chronic bronchitis, tracheal problems life
span..
-
whatever said
and done, though,
Chihuahuas
are totally adorable creatures, and yet,
-
are valued for their fierceness and amazing individuality. They
are curious little creatures,
-
and this makes them quite adaptable to any kind of environment,
-
whether it is the countryside or an apartment in the busiest
area of the city. However,
-
it
is advisable not to add a Chihuahua to your family if your child
is below school age,
-
for
the reason that they have a recurrent tendency to bite when
frightened.
-
Chihuahuas have a discriminating nature
when it comes to being with other breeds,
-
prefer
the companionship of their own kind over others.
These
creatures are highly devoted to their owners, and tend to show
overly jealous behaviour
-
when they see the latter’s human relationships. This, however,
can be toned down through socialization

BABIES HAVE GONE "SADNESS "
GRACE IS A WONDERFUL MUM
FOR BOTH IF US
EVEN THOUGH THESE ARE NOT HER BABIES

How to Avoid
Chihuahua Mixes
Don't be fooled by cheap prices, handwriiten
pedigree's .early release of pups under 8 weeks .
As a Chihuahua
Breeder with many years of experience, I get letters
and emails from people all the time with questions
about this fabulous breed. One of the most often
asked questions I get from people is about size and
weight. People who did not buy
their Chihuahuas from
me ask why they have a Chihuahua that weighed
so little as a young pup and now tops the scales at
fifteen or even twenty pounds? Many also wonder why
their ears and snouts are so extended?
Many unethical
Breeders use an old trick to double their
profits on toy pups. They
breed Chihuahuas mixed with Mini-Pinchers.
Why? Because both breeds have pups that look almost
identical during the first eight weeks of life, but
Chihuahua-Mini Pin mixes produce eight or more pups,
compared to purebred Chihuahua females which usually
have litters of one to three pups and rarely more
then four. That means more profit for them, but a
mixed pup for you. The difference between the
purebred and the mix becomes very obvious as time
passes.
Purebred
Chihuahua pups have a unique look to them. The
differences start to become obvious by the time the
pups reach nine to twelve weeks of age. Mixed pups
feature ears and heads that seem much too large for
their body frame. Snouts on mixed pups are very
extended, much more so then one would expect to find
on any type of Chihuahua.
The two basic body types of
purebred Chihuahuas are Apple heads and Deer heads.
Apple heads tend to have shorter snouts, while Deer
heads have elongated snouts. Still, the Deer
heads have much shorter ears and snouts then the
Chihuahua-Mini Pin mixes. Those trying to sell mixes
as purebreds will often tell unsuspecting customers
that the reason for a pups larger snout is that it’s
a Deer head. But mixes have much longer snouts,
extremely over-sized ears and heads that seem much
larger then their bodies can support.
One might think
that purebred papers will guarantee a purebred pup,
but that isn’t always the case. In many instances
Breeders have been able to manipulate various
purebred registries and get papers for pups from
mixed parents. Looking at the parents also doesn’t
work. Most unethical Breeders will have bogus
parents with similar colours all ready to be viewed.
The key to making
sure a Chihuahua is what it’s supposed to be is
proportion. Whether the Chihuahua pup in
question is a longhair or shorthair,
they should have a body that
is evenly proportioned. No matter how young the
puppy is, its ears, head and body should look
proportionate with ears and a nose that do not seem
unusually large or long. Because
Chihuahuas are ancient dogs that weren’t
created by any known genetic manipulation like other
toy dog breeds, there can be a lot of diversity when
it comes to colour and length of hair. But body
proportions on most Chihuahua pups are very even at
almost any age.
As a Breeder I
hear horror stories all the time from people who
have bought pups from other areas and ended up
with mixed breed dogs or animals too ill to survive,
so buyer beware!
The basic colours for purebred Chihuahuas are
white, fawn, black, tan, red, blue, the super rare
merles or a mixture of any of the above.
mixes also
love to bit on and chew everything they can find,
compared to purebred Chihuahuas which are not known
for that type for behaviour. |

YOU HAD YOUR MALE DOG CASTRATED,
"NO BABIES WANTED "
WHAT IS HIS REACTION TO FEMALES ON HEAT
Another link below
which helps explain the
CHOKING SOME
Chihuahuas have after drinking or stressed I have had chi
's many years most have had this problem in different degrees , Vets
sometimes explain it prescribing antibiotics or x-rays ,suggesting
kennel cough or even heart murmur. My thoughts as a breeder of many
years on this frightening experience common in chi's ,where they
look like they are choking gasping for breath feet apart chest heaving
is due to air way problem.
Many discussions with my vet have lead me to believe the little piece
of skin that lies at the back of the throat gets sucked into the air tube
when my chi's have an episode I sooth their neck with a massage
sometimes find gentle pressure on their nose to stop the gasping
helps with soothing words to calm them. One thing for certain I have never
lost a Chihuahua to this problem. so click on link below ,maybe you have
something to add. http://chihuahua.meetup.com/boards/thread/2154243/20/ this

THIS STORY FROM LYNN
must
just tell you this…….. Costas was afraid of walking across a wooden
planked low bridge (in Cornwall)
as the planks
were well spaced and there were gaps between each one. We all went
across and he was ‘stuck’
the other side. No
amount of calling him or returning to him and encouraging him would do
it. He just stayed there.
So (you’ll never
believe this) we said to Ellie “go fetch Costas” and pointed back over
the other side of the bridge.
She spotted him
and went trotting over to him. She licked his face once, turned around
and trotted back
over the bridge
followed by Costas wagging his tail !!! It was such a lovely sight Pat
that it brought tears to our eyes !!!
It was literally
a case of ‘dog speak dog language’ and unfortunately I don’t !! Honestly
it was such a marvel to watch.
We love them all so
much.

care

BELOW ANOTHER STORY
MICHELLE
IS A TINY SMOOTH COAT GIRL
BORN INTO A LITTER
OF FOUR.
IN NOVEMBER 2008
MICHELLE
was weighed
in at 3.5oz
with
a lip
problem
her owner
took her to the vets thinking she would have to be put to sleep feeling very
sad the journey was a unhappy one
Julie was told
it is not too bad* her roof had a tiny split to the front
and a hair
lip* which was a little unattractive the vet said don't feed her just see if
she can feed off mum ,so this tiny girl was on her own .
Michelle
proved to be a little fighter feeding off mum for about a week making
progress* put on weight, then Julie noticed her weight was dropping our
LITTLE heroin dropped her weight to 2.7oz against the advice given by
the vet her human mum started to feed her with milk from a droplet.
Touch and go
for a while so tiny and frail skin and bone ,the joy came when she again
started to put on weight the nights up and constant dedication every two
hours was working.
Some might ask
why bother ? let her go ! might be best for her .
There
are some who feel a life is a life ,to help a little soul is worth every
effort ,these are the breeders I have on my web site
I have every
admiration for anyone who would go to the trouble to try to bring on a baby
who would generally be disposed off at birth .
JULIE IS THE
BREEDER
Such a
caring lovely lady my deepest respect heartfelt admiration.
Michelle is still doing well she now weighs 7.3 ozs at
5 weeks old
Julie is still
topping her up with milk 3 hourly to ward off dehydration
even
though she is eating puppy food and raw mincemeat
also
growling at her litter mates if they try to muscle in on her food
bless
her !!!
Her future is secure .
To be given to
a friend of Julies NO REWARDS FOR herself .just a promise to love her and
care for her eventually surgery to stitch her little lip together.... WHEN
SHE IS OLD ENOUGH.
Breeding is
about caring love and dedication
PUPPIES ARE TREASURES* A GIFT* A LITTLE SOUL.
