Denbighshire, in the gloaming, outward bound in the Med. She survived coming this way a couple of times during the war in the Malta convoys, only to be bombed and set on fire whilst in Valletta Harbour. Mark Downs tells me that she was part of Operation Stoneage (the final relief of Malta) when the incident took place on 26 November 1942. His father, Ronald Downs, a DEMS gunner, was first to raise the alarm when the fire started. Mark sent a facsimile of the entry in the Official Log Book which can be seen in the Documents and Papers section here.
