Galley girls in Hong Kong. They used to take over the more menial tasks in the galley whilst the ship was in port. In their spare time they used to throw the odd piece of dunnage over the side to a waiting sampan.

Years later, one of them brought me a card when we were in Hong Kong on Christmas Day. It was a birthday card, so it's possible that she thought that I was Himself, but it's more likely that it was just a gesture of thanks for not being too vigilant over the years in making sure that it was only dirty dunnage that went over the side. It was a nice gesture anyway.
