My first discharge book, issued in 1947. This particular page shows my break to get my Mate's ticket, after leaving the 'Autolycus', and my two year trip to get all my sea time in for my Master's ticket in one fell swoop. I left Birkenhead in November 1953, the day before England got hammered by Hungary at Wembley, as supernumary on the Clytoneus (living in the Ship's hospital). Joined the Ajax in Hong Kong in December and left her in November 1955 to return to Liverpool as passenger on the Media.
