Usually the ship would have had another bight of rope as an additional headrope but in this case she is using one of the headropes as a backspring, presumably at the pilot's request. In fact it's at such an angle that it looks more as if it was designed to prevent the ship from taking off! She also has her starboard anchor down, ready to heave her off the quay when she is leaving.
