A sampan in Hong Kong harbour. Quite a large family for such a small craft. There were always a few sampans lying near the ship in the hope that some of the dirty dunnage which was being removed from the holds might 'fall' overboard.

When we were out at the buoys, in the days before the agents organised a motor boat ferry service, we used to hire a sampan to take us ashore.
