Swimming pool on number 5 hatch of the Ajax. This was in the days before purpose built pools were supplied to the ships for erection on the well decks . (see 'Saturday afternoon at sea' in the Ships of the Sixties section.) At least it proved that the hatch tarpaulins were watertight!
