Tallying imports at Holt's wharf, Hong Kong (Kowloon) in 1949. It was the custom of the port to land the cargo on deck so that the Tally clerks could identify the marks and numbers and check quantities before it was landed to the wharf. Most ports did the tally ashore. This was taken at No. 4 hatch of the Calchas. The entrance to the engine room is on the left.
