Well, what a revelation.  Whereas The Horn of Plenty show that I recorded has lots of energy, great songs and quality musicianship, this one has an air of polished maturity too, which, I think, makes it even better.  Video is taken at a much faster pace and is better for it, the original, simpler, bass intro to City Love is restored, The Kicker is smoother and more sophisticated than I remember and the new songs (new to me, anyway) are just wonderful.  Hearing this, I can imagine what caused the rift in the original line-up.  Dane obviously had a growing backlog of new material that was crying out to be played live, but dropping Neil’s crowd-pleasers like Taking Pills and Backlash to make room for it wasn’t really an option.  I can feel the tension even now!

I’ve done a quick re-mastering job and transferred the recording to CD and it’s as good a listening experience as I’ve had in years.
