The Guitar

The Cello and Classical guitar

The Cello and Classical guitar make a beautiful contrast in texture
and colour adding warmth and depth to many of the tracks

The Piano

The Baby Grand Piano

A fair amount of the material on the album was recorded at Watercolour studios
and in the main Live room is a fine Babygrand Piano

Chris just could not keep his hands off and under the instruction and inspiration of their manager ( Gordon Wilson ) the intro to " You " was created!

The rg 550

The Ibanez RG550

The RG550 is one of the Ibanez mid priced gems.
With the likes of Steve Vai and Joe Satriani using Ibanez they don' need a lot of selling.

Playing tips
I have been playing the Ibanez RG550 for sometime now, this is my favourite guitar. The action is set as low as possible even though this creates fret buzz, infact a small amout of fret buzz in the right places adds to the sound. I use Ernie Ball Extra Slinky strings that is 008 gauge. This helps with the really fast stuff! With players like Steve Vai and Joe Satriani using Ibanez they don't need a lot of selling. To get the sound I like has taken about 25 years to develope. I use a Zoom 9150 Valve pre amp, This a multi effects unit that actually has a valve in the pre amp section. I crank up the gain to about 9, set the compressor to 2, add a little lift in the EQ at about 800hz. Then add a little chorus modulating at about 16 ( slow), reverb with about 1.6 ms and 30% gain. I also use a fair amount of delay, when recording try to set the delay time to a figure that is divisable by the songs tempo, this will allow quite alot of delay but not make a mess of your mix.
Remember to turn everything up as loud as possible. My neighbers will always remember me for it!

The Shofar

The Eddie Ryon Drum Kit

The Eddie Ryon Kit has been used by players from a wide background.
Buddy Rich, Simon Philips and Steve Gad.

Geoffs drumming tips
Position is a major part of good drumming, being relaxed at all times gives you better control.
Technique is also very important, one the finest examples of this is Buddy Rich who has the five T's- Time, taste, touch, talent and technique.

Over the years I have come acroos many kits all rather expensive , but if your are looking for a sound of your own, custom made at really good rates then I recomend Eddie Ryon Drum Kits every time.

The Shofar

The Human Voice

The voice is perhaps the greatest instrument of all.
Vocalists such as Freddie Mercury, Paul Young, Robert Plant
and Ozzie Osbourne have all done their fair share of vocal training

Johns Vocal Techniques
Do all you can to look after your health and develope your lungs. If you can maintain a regular pattern of physical exercise, particulary stuff that gets you out of breath and your heart pumping as this will help to build a good foundation for your performance.

Do breathing exercises:
Try standing in front of and facing a wall, then try to keep a piece of A4 paper on the wall surface by blowing it. Check out this example of power vocals with some range!wow
