TORPOINT STUDENT ADVANCES IN LIONS INTERNATIONAL PEACE POSTER COMPETITION Rachael Hope, 11, a pupil at Carbeile Junior School, has won the local competition sponsored by Torpoint and Rame Peninsula Lions Club. The competition, which emphasizes the importance of world peace to young people everywhere, was judged by Sara McLees-Taylor of Westcroft Gallery, Kingsand, who selected it for its originality, artistic merit and portrayal of the contest theme, "Children Know Peace". Rachael's poster will advance to stiff competition through the district, multiple district and international rounds of the competition.
We are also hoping to have a Lions Young Ambassador for the Club. I understand we have 3 possible contenders in the area. We await the outcome with interest.
Our sponsored football team Torpoint Athletic beat Newquay Godolphin Atlantic 6-1 at Newquay on Sunday 20th November and they now progress to the District Semi-Final at Home to Newquay. Well played Torpoint.
