Cogscripts

These custom cogsripts for JK and MotS were written by me, and you can use them in any level you want as long as you give me credit for them. You may modify them as well if you give me credit for the original script. Although they may seem complex, their use is actually very easy and there are full and detailed instructions within the cogs explaining every step to putting them in your levels. To view the instructions for use you will need to open the scripts in either CogWriter or any text editor or word processor (eg. NotePad). If you have any trouble you can also mail me.

Easyrain.cog - This script allows you to put realistic rain in your levels. You can use any template from the game for your rain (+carbsparks for MotS works the best), or even better- make your own. The effect can be either active or inactive at the start of the level and may be turned on or off when you enter specified sectors (eg. when you enter a building). This rain is not simply created from a fixed source- the source moves with the player so as long as the effect is turned on it will rain wherever you go! There is also an option to specify how quickly the position of the source updates and how heavy the rain is.

Easyfog.cog - This script will generate realistic, reliable fog of any colour and thickness in your level and it actually gets thicker in the distance! This is my most popular cog so far, with several people already planning to use it in their levels. See the screenshots below which show just a little of what this script is capable of doing. Like the rain cog, the effect can be on or off at the start of the level and it can also be turned on and off when entering sectors (eg. buildings). Thousands of different fog effects can be achieved by mixing colours and different thicknesses, or you can simply create normal grey fog to improve the atmosphere of your outdoor areas. Also, no 3d card is required for this effect to work.

Item_compass.cog - Originally designed to be used in a level that I cancelled, this script does just what it says- acts as a compass. The player uses the compass in the same way as an item (eg. the field light) and it will show the direction he/she is facing. North is the direction the player is facing in Jed when you start a new project. This could be used in a level with character interaction, with people telling you which direction to travel in.

Drive.cog - This is the script that would have been behind the controllable vehicles in city in The New Empire 3. That section is now definitely cancelled, so I've decided to release the script for public use. It still has some bugs, but you're welcome to modify it and full instructions on how to use it are included within the file.

A shot of the fog generated by my easyfog.cog script. This shows grey fog, but coloured fog is just as easy to do.

And another...

And one more.
