Home's Call

This was the sort of level I'd always wanted to make, but never thought I'd bother. I wanted to make something that was original and different, and I think I achieved this with the playable noghri and twisting storyline. Anyway, when I heard about The Admiral's Command Chamber level contest I knew I wouldn't get another New Empire level done before the closing date, so I made this instead. Although I didn't win, a lot of the judges and people who played it liked it, so it's still available for download and I've kept the information online.

Story

You play as the noghri warrior Bolaphk, kidnapped from your homeworld of Honoghr by the Anchehar smuggling group at the age of two years. You currently serve as a bodyguard and assassin for the leader of the Ancehar group, Rilban. You have been para- dropped to an area near the Evarsh base. Recently, a rival smuggling group, the violent Evarsh group, have set up a large stronghold close to your own. A week ago, a battle raged as the Anchehar group attacked the Evarsh fortress, after a string of small attacks from the Evarsh group damaged the Anchehar base. Unfortunately, the Evarsh group were well prepared for the assault, and fought it off. The Anchehar group is desperate, so Rilban has sent in you, his ultimate assassin, to infiltrate the fortress and assassinate Liegus. However, you have other ideas. In the last few years, you have learnt much about your home planet of Honoghr and long to return. This mission gives you a chance to escape your master and return home. Yo! ur sense of duty is strong, and you feel you must obey your master, but can you resist the call of home?..........

New Enemies and Characters

Cave Covaar - The cave covaar is a vicious creature which inhabits the caves of Mamgen. Although there are few of these creatures alive, an encounter with one could ensure your death. It attacks with sharp hoof- like hands, driving them into you and sometimes causing instant death.

Bloscren - The bloscren is also a deadly creature. Equipped with razor sharp fangs and the ability to fly, it is a formidable foe. Even the cave covaar is not safe from this deadly beast. It often attacks and devours it, along with other creatures.

Liegus - Little is known of the Evarsh leader, but he is said to be ruthless and well guarded in his throne room at the top of the fortress. It will not be an easy job assassinating him.

Rilban - The leader of the Anchehar group is a good leader and is fair, but will not tolerate anyone causing damage to his plans. You are his last hope of survival.

Bolaphk - The only playable noghri in any MotS level, Bolaphk was kidnapped from his home planet of Honoghr at a young age and holds deep desires to return...

New Locations

The Planet of Mamgen - Mamgen is a rugged planet of cliffs, caves and valleys. Although there are no major seas, there are many rivers and lakes covering the surface. There is little indigenous life where the two smuggling groups have set up, but the other areas host many species, some of them dangerous.

New Weapons

Noghri Knife - One of the unique things about Home's Call is the fact that you have to rely on hand-to-hand combat with a knife rather than guns. Bolaphk is equipped only with a simple noghri knife throughout the level, but his slashes are devastatingly powerful.

My personal favourite area from any of my levels - the main staircase and domed roof.

A flooded rocky passage below the base.

The storage room at the back of the bar.

The base's bar with working jukebox.

Another one of my favourite areas- the main entrance hall with flickering torches with a window to the staircase.

A corridor through the middle of two supply pipes.

Another shot from the top level of the sewer room, showing the falling sewage.
