Christ the King is a very child friendly church and we want the young people to know that they can play a full part in the life of the church and also to have their own special activities where they can grow in their relationship with God in the way that is best for them.



Sunday Morning Activities for Children

We are J.A.M (Jesus And Me)!  Three groups designed for three different ages of young people which do age-relevant stuff. We might be doing craft activities, a bit of drama, discussion or silly games. We focus on Bible stories and Christian messages, we learn how to pray and follow activities which link to the Common Worship Lectionary in church.

What groups are available?

There are several different groups and each one is described below:

Mini J.A.M - a Creche for babies and pre-school children

Mini – J.A.M meet at the back of church. We have all sorts of toys and try to do an activity which links in to the older children and the main service. We try to provide helpers at crèche so your parents can enjoy the service.

J.A.M - for children up to KS3

We all meet in the Community Room during the 10am service, and we re-join the service just before the Eucharistic prayer and sit together opposite the choir.

We like to explore the Bible by all sorts of methods:

We draw and write.

We talk and question what we think about the story.

We act stories out.

We play games!

What else? We learn to pray, and we build a friendship with God.

J.A.M Xtra – for KS3 and above

Again, we all meet with J.A.M in the Community Room during the 10am service, and we re-join the service just before the Eucharistic prayer and sit together opposite the choir with J.A.M. We think a little deeper than J.A.M though!

Asking questions, acting out, thinking, considering, craft, music, thinking more, discussing, questioning, challenging, small groups, noisy, silence, experimental prayer, just chatting to God, Bible stories, drama, art.........................

That’s our three groups of J.A.M, so please do come and try us!

* The adults that run our Sunday Morning Activities are all experienced and C.R.B checked.

Note: There are no Sunday morning activities on the first Sunday of each month as it is an All Age-Service. We also take a break on Bank holiday weekends and the main school holidays.  The crèche facilities are available at the back of church though and parents are more than welcome to use them with their youngsters.

Butterflies

Every month (except August) we have a service on the second Friday at 2pm for parents (and grandparents) and their toddler children. We concentrate on a theme, with a story and some songs, in church for about half an hour  and then move to our Common Room to do some craft work and have a drink....And its all over by 3pm in case you have other children to collect from school.
