Working as a DJ
My first DJing opportunity was at an amateur Sheffield University-organised event hosted at the Corporation Nightclub. Based on my performance, the club owner permanently offered me the Saturday night warm-up slot (9-10pm)! Several months later I had progressed to a main session in one of the smaller rooms. I then advanced to the main room's prime-time slot on Saturday nights.
Throughout this time, I liaised with record companies to arrange promotion nights for forthcoming album releases and wrote reviews of new albums and singles. In addition, I became the Nightclub's Unsigned Band Liaison, which involved advising performance bookings and writing music reviews. I was also invited to be a guest DJ at an event in Newcastle.
