System Set-up for Carrier Monitoring

see diagram below for the hardware set-up. During carrier monitoring, the cassette deck is in the record (or record standby) mode, and the record level control is used to set the noise floor on the spectral display to approximately -60dB.

spectrum Lab settings - FFT Settings:

FFT Sample Rate Divisor - 64
FFT Input Size ("length") 8192
  - resolution 00.0421 Hz
  - band 0913.87-1086.13 Hz

FFT Type:

Complex input with frequency shift centre frequency 1000.0 Hz

FFT Output:

Logarithmic (converted to dB)

Spectrum Lab Settings - Spectrum Display

Amplitude grid
Optimum waterfall average
Peak detecting cursor
Waterfall scroll interval 15 sec
Smooth scroll
Buffered graphics

With these settings, audio is readable when the Carrier to Noise Ratio (CNR) is greater than approximately 50-60 dB
