KEIGHLEY & WORTH VALLEY STEAM GALA 29.06.08

 

 

 

It was a rather bad start of the steam Gala when the class 47 derailed on a set of points at Oxenhope. The Loco was re-railed near the end of the day which allowed the Ribblehead Flyer to run.

My self on board the 11.00 in the museums preserved Pullman coach.

Sporting the 40th Anniversary of the opening of the railway 40 yeas ago  B.R Standard 80002 is in the passing loop.

Its a long time since I have seen a die-cast A4 made by Lone Star.

Double heading, Manning Wardle 0-6-0 No 1210 Sir Berkley, with Taff Vale Rly 0-6-0 No 85.

Treble heading , L&Y 957 with L.M.S Jinty 47279 & L.N.E.R K4 61994 The Great Marquess head up the grade out of Keighley.

The first train out was headed by Lancs & Yorkshire  "Ironclad" 0-6-0 at 11.00. and all tickets for the day were £10.00 rail rovers.

The next train was headed by WD 90733 with class 5 on the rear 45212.

At Ingrow West A 0-6-0 tank is displayed

David Howorth an Englisman who moved to Australia in 1978 returned for a visit. & explores the books & mags in the Museum.

Once a proud runner on the K.&.W.V.R an American 0-6-0, which came over during the 2nd word war.

In light of the early morning class 47 derailment the Worth Valley shone through and was well worth going.
