NKF Kumite Special November Course Aberdeen 2007

The NKF Chief Instructor Ronnie Watt along with Dr Fritz Wendland the founding President of the WKC and Thomas Schulze the DKJB National Team coach gave a special Kumite course over two days 24th - 26th November for the National Karate Federation NKF in Aberdeen. Over one hundred and fifty karateka from white belt to 5th Dan took part in this seminar. Thomas is one of the highest-ranking black belts in Germany. Ronnie Watt was delighted with the standard of the kumite course and is looking forward to sending a squad to the 3rd International Martial Arts Games 12-19th April 2008 in Thailand. At the end of the course Thomas was presented with a Scottish Parliament silver salver from Alex Johnstone MSP.

Bill Berry 7th Dan, MBE ,Chairman of Judo Scotland and Aberdeen Sports Council presented the instructors with a gift from the Federation for all their dedicated hard work. The members this year alone have had three fantastic courses with Tommi Ochi, Julian Chees WKC Senior Kata Champion and Thomas Schulze German national coach organised by Ronnie Watt and Dr Fritz Wendland.


Two members of the children's squad achieved their children's black belt. Sara Calder and Morgan Bertram have trained for 4 years from the age of 5 years old 3-4 times a week without fail - a fantastic achievement. The girls are looking forward to attending the NKF Norway course headed by Sensei Alf Ronny Fagerland 7th-9th December at Haulgesund and the Children's Championships in Slovenia in October 2008. Jock Calder 4th Dan, Ian Kirk 4rd Dan,Paddy Jamieson 4th Dan, Roy Petersen 3rd Dan and event organiser Mark Bertram are holding a fund raising dinner for the Federation in Februrary to assist the Children's Squad, coaches and referees to attend the WKC championships in Slovenia.
