To Find Site:
From either north or south leave A75 Autoroute at junction 5 and take D213 towards Orcet. At roundabout continue onto D52, take first left and continue across low river bridge and site is next right. (the site is signed on the D52)

This excellent site is a very convenient stop off the A75 just south of Clermont Ferrand.
Although built on a side of a hill access to pitches is good and all are level.
There are two toilet blocks of high quality, They have a mix of Turkish and English toilets. The chemical loo disposal is a bit Heath Robertson but works fine.

The pitches are laid out along the tarmac roads and are of a good size and most are delineated by high hedges. There are also several pitching areas set back a bit from the site road which I suspect are used for those customer staying more than one night.
Electrics are available to all pitches and you can have either 5 or 10 amp.

Reception has some information on the local area.
There is a bar but this seems only to be open in the high season.
Although not large there is a very nice pool complex.

This campsite gives a discount to holders of the ACSI Card.

The centre of the small town of Orcet is a short (uphill) walk from the site. There are several shops for bread and essential supplies, although there are also several supermarkets in the vicinity. Every day except Monday a baker calls at the entrance to the campsite.

There are many opportunities for sight seeing from Le Clos Auroy.

Camping du Vaubarlet is in a river valley in the Haute Loire region. It seems very remote when you are there; there is a feeling of being miles from anywhere, as the valley and the immediate area is deserted, but the small town of Sainte Signolene is about three miles away.

Access is not difficult, but the area is very hilly; once you get south of St Etienne there are some quite spectacular drives and climbs both on the minor roads and the main road through the area. We had no problems with our folding camper however; access to the site is good and the site itself is flat.

The site is spacious and you can put your unit more or less wherever you like;the owners are very friendly and welcoming.
There is also a rough camping area for those that are that way inclined.
The facilities are clean and well appointed. There is a medium size pool with an adjacent bar and restaurant, and there is a play area on site.
On site is a shop which just sells the basics, but there is an adequate supermarket in the nearest town, about 10 minutes drive.

The site is quite quiet, but there is enough to do in the surrounding area, and if you wish to explore the area bikes can be rented and there are tracks to walk.

The only downside we had with this site was the weather was atrocious for much of the time we were there; this is not usual I understand.
It's a good site for those who like walking, hiking and biking, and lovers of picturesque scenery.
