Camping Le Val de Bonnal is a large site and a member of the Castels organisation. It has many mobile homes and tent operator on site. Despite this there are still many touring pitches for both tents and caravans. Pitch size varies from generous to enormous!
I suspect that a lot of the people that use this site do not stray far from the camping site during their stay as it is close to being a self contained resort. It is a wonderful place for children on all ages with lots of things being organised and also the opportunity for the 'Swallows and Amazon' type adventure. Unless you make full use of the site facilities you could question whether the site was good value particularly for couples on their own. Whilst there are many places to visit outside the site these generally involve quite long drives although from our experience of staying in mid/late August the roads for miles around seem very quiet.
The nearest supermarket is in Rougemont about a mile from the site.

From Vesoul take N19 towards Lure, after a short distance take D9 signed for Villersexel. In the village of Espreis follow signs for Val de Bonnal. At campsite signs turn left towards village of Bonnal. As you enter Bonnal over the river bridge watch out for entrance to campsite on left. It might be advised not to approach the site from Rougemont.
There are several toilet/shower blocks dotted around the site. They are of a good standard, one gripe would be that toilet paper dispensers are out side of the cubical, is it just me but how do you know how much you will use!
Near the entrance where the Reception is situated is a takeaway with an eating area, a bar and a shop, although given the size of the site I have seen much more comprehensive selections but it is OK for basics.
On site is a swimming pool with slides. Outside the site is a Park Loisirs which campers have full free access to. Included in this park is a restaurant, swimming lake, fishing lake and water Sports Lake. Running through the site is a river which is used for kayaks and fishing, although you need a permit for the later. The site has a policy of only accepting bookings for a minimum of 6 days during the high season.
