The "Around Milnrow In the Snow" Walk!

This walk took place on a cold and wintry, but very sunny February day. The south of England might have ground to a halt due to ungritted roads, but the Littleborough & Milnrow Walking Club kept going, and didn't let a little thing like winter prevent our weekly ramble.

  • fields 1). Not the playing fields of Eton, but the playing fields of Firgrove, the L & MWC do a good impression of Scott's abortive trip to the South Pole. (83kb)
Belfield Lane 2). Belfield Lane, glistening in the winter Sunhine, it's hard to believe this is just a few hundred yards from the very busy Rochdale Ring Road. (129kb)
Canal 3). The Belfield to Firgrove stretch of the newly restored Rochdale Canal, looking badly in need of a visit from a Russian atomic powered Icebreaker. (kb)
group 4). The walking group just getting ready to start out. You can tell by the smiling and happy faces that this bunch aren't going to let a little thing like ice and snow stop them from having a good walk. (154kb)
wait for me 5). Was it something I said? I'd no sooner pointed the camera at them than they all took off and left me. At least I got a nice shot of them departing. (89kb)
