The Uppermill Walk, Oldham!

We visited the picturesque hill village of Uppermill near Oldham, on a bright but cool afternoon, and below are some of the pictures that I took:

  • view A nice view of Uppermill from the top of a hill.
bridge6 There's no chance of this bridge swinging around like that new Millenium Bridge in London, the Victorians knew how to build them properly! :-)

group No it's not a bunch of English soccer hooligans, it's that other bunch of troublemakers, the Milnrow & Littleborough Walking Club - a bunch of recycled delinquents if ever there was one! :-)
stepstones Betty: - "Muriel, I feel like a commando!".

Muriel - "Well I do too Betty, but where are we going to get one at this time of day?":-)

millflats This was once a sweatshop, where poor people toiled long hours for a pittance. Now it's like 'Millionaire's Row'!:
llamas Llamas in Lancashire? - "I told them they should have turned right at Peru!":
towpath "I keep getting this strange feeling that I'm being followed!"
oct "Nearly home, just keep following this canal and we'll soon be lost!"
    bridge2 Another nicely constructed bridge:
woollen mill A lovely shot of the place where the barges used to unload for the woolen mills:
