This walk covered some of the hills around the Whitworth Valley, and yes, it was actually a fine, sunny day which just goes to prove that all those stories about it always raining in Whitworth aren't really true!

The Cowm Reservoir looks innocent enough, but due to being contaminated by a fire at the nearby quarry in the mid 70s it can no longer be used for drinking, and now plays host to a water sports centre for the disabled:
The white object in the centre of the reservoir is the water ski jumping platform, the quarries can be seen at the top of the hill:
