1/5th Winter Series

The British Radio Car Association (BRCA) is the UK's governing body for radio controlled model car racing. We oversee all aspects of the sport, from setting construction rules for the different classes, to organising British championship events, to selecting the British team for International competitions. The BRCA works closely with EFRA (the European governing body) and IFMAR (the World governing body) to ensure R/C racing is a sport that can be enjoyed by all nations. We have affiliated clubs all over the United Kingdom where drivers meet to compete in organized events.

All members of the BRCA receive:
• Copy of the BRCA Handbook
• Public Liability Insurance
• Regular
"Circuit Chatter" magazine
• Reduced weekend rates at Jarvis Group Hotels
• Reduced R/C car magazine subscription rates

The BRCA supports radio control model cars of all shapes and sizes, from 1:12 scale stockcars, to 1:8 scale nitro powered off-roaders, to 1:5 scale petrol engine powered touring cars. Whatever the scale, the cars are fully adjustable and the fastest versions are capable of astonishing performance, reaching actual speeds of up to 80mph in less than four seconds!

To find out where to go racing contact your local Model Shop for information on race tracks and clubs in your area. Visit your local clubs and talk to the racers there, this will give you an idea of what kind of car to buy and what style of racing you want to get into. When you first get your new race car, practice in a place where you can't damage the car (or other people) then head for your club.

Most clubs will welcome new drivers so don't worry how good you are! From here on in it's up to you - are you the next World Champion of model car racing? See you at the World Championships.

 good luck!

RC frequencies for the UK

rc frequencies and their associated channel numbers in use in the United Kingdom (UK).
The 3 main frequency bands used for radio controlled models are:

  • 27MHz AM for general use (identified by colour, not channel number)
  • 35MHz FM for aircraft use only
  • 40MHz FM for surface vehicles only

While the 35MHz band is designated for rc aircraft only, it's worth noting that some Ready To Fly kits, particularly imported ones, might use the 27MHz band.
Care should be taken if flying a model plane on this band, as it's also used not only for rc surface vehicles but also Citizen Band (CB) radio.

Frequency chart for the 27MHz (general use) band:
