Minutes of the Previous Meeting 3rd March 2006

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and agreed as a true record.

Matters arising

Terry reported that Pat Muller was back at work and the future looked a bit brighter despite the treatment she was having. Terry will arrange some flowers at an appropriate time.

As there were no proposals for Vice Chairman yet Terry Richardson offered to Chair the meeting in the event of the current Chairman not attending.

Club Relay Event – Andy Ward not present, item held over.

Elmton Chase – Elm Tree Pub Elmton, Wednesday 21st June @ 19:30.

The time and venue was confirmed as ok, Dennis has been to see the proprietor who had offered the ‘Barn Owl’ as a facility for changing and catering, all other matters were in hand.

Handicap Race – Clowne Community Centre, Friday 7th July @ 19:00

John Proffitt suggested a mystery team race to be incorporated into the handicap race to encourage greater competition and involvement. Dennis would contact Andrew Porter to see if he was willing to take on the additional organisation. A suggestion for prizes of 3 medals and 3 wooden spoons was put forward. The race date is schedule for 7th July. The refreshments were also in hand.

Summer X-Country - Mansfield Road Clowne, Tuesday 25th July @ 19:30.

John Proffitt would contact the other clubs. Marshals would need to be organised nearer the date. Refreshments would need to be co-ordinated amongst the club members or an approach to the Cricket club could be made to organise a buffet. On recent previous occasions the event had not been well attended

Clowne Half Marathon (CHM) – no issues.

Grand Prix – Steve Shipp was absent but had left details of the latest standings. He had also left word that numbers for the Ranby 10 were current down on previous years and that he was also in need of marshals for the event.

Club Trips –

Isle of Isla – 20 people paid so far. Terry was in negotiations regarding the accommodation to see if the cost could be held at its current price.

Great South Run - no update

Club Secretary – Dennis had received a letter from John Mannion requesting support in the forthcoming London Marathon in the form of a charity donation. The request was proposed and accepted; £50 would go to John’s named charity.

Karen Bestwick had written a letter of thanks to the clubs in response to all those who either ran or marshalled at the Larwood 10k event.

Other correspondence included a letter from the Derbyshire County Athletic Association stating that affiliation to the NoEAA will be transferred to the English Athletics Association. There was also a letter entitled Developing Athletics in Derbyshire which was passed to Les Banton in order for him to list any equipment that might be needed for the CHM.

Club Captain – Dave reported that training was being well supported with up to 8 people attending. The light nights and change of season would likely see the running track being marked out on the field.

Treasures report – Lewis reported that he had now opened a new club account offering 3% interest not taxed. As it was a club account we would not pay VAT either. Enquiries were still continuing over the likelihood of getting charitable status but Lewis thought that it was unlikely because of the level of donations we provided.

Social / Publicity – John Proffitt reminded the membership that they must contact him if they wanted their name to appear in the paper.

There was a debate relating to the use of the joint web sites, no formal actions were proposed.
