Minutes of the Previous Meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and agreed as a true record.

Matters arising

Clowne Half Marathon – extra hats had been purchased and were distributed at the meeting.

Steve Shipp passed around the printed kit bags for the membership to look at.

The cost would be around £1800 for 700 bags. They worked out at £2.19 each + VAT and then a 10% discount.

Steve Shipp has now paid the £1 for competing in the fun run.

Presentation night – thanks to the winners and those contributing on the night, including the excellent trophies.

Current Business

X-country – Terry Richardson said all was in hand for the Clowne event next Sunday but reported being a little short on Marshals at this stage but we should be OK on the day.

The catering was in hand, Les made a request for others to come and assist if they wanted the catering to extend beyond soup and cakes. The Secretary said that he had secured some packs of sandwiches for the buffet.

John Proffitt pointed out that the catering would have to be changed from soup when we hosted the summer X-country race later in the year.

Membership - subscriptions were now due, people have up until the end of March to pay.

Elmton Chase – the proposed date was the 21st June, could people check if this date clashed with any other races or even the World Cup.

Training night – no issues. Andy Ward did mentioned entering the club in a rely race. Probably four teams of mixed ability would be required. The Chairman asked Andy to come to the next meeting with some proposals.

Grand Prix – no issues. Results and standings would be available at the next meeting. So far two races had been completed in the series.

Steve also mentioned that the family had received a letter from a lady who was wishing to go from Sheffield to Chesterfield along the canal (Trans Pennine Trail) being pushed in a wheelchair. She was asking if the club wanted to help, if she makes contact again the club were happy to assist her. The 10th May was the likely date.

Secretary – Dennis mentioned a letter from the St John Ambulance people based at Chesterfield asking for donations. The membership felt that the cause was supported adequately throughout the year.

Treasurer – nothing else to report

President – The president reported that the bus for the Scotland trip was now half full. (Others thought it might be half empty)

Club Captains – Dave Johnson reported half a dozen or so turning up for training and thanks to Andy Ward for his training sessions.

A lady from Brighton University had contacted Dave who was looking into the effects of marathon running on runners and a questionnaire was available for people who wanted to fill one in and return it to her.

Worksop Members – April 26th will be the first summer league race.

Great South Run – Brian Banton needed a decision on numbers soon.

The Chairman then announced he would be calling a committee meeting to resolve some outstanding issues namely, life membership, second claim membership and the AGM issue of the Grand Prix.

AOB

John Proffitt asked if Clowne RR made a donation to Steve Shipp’s Ranby races. Steve replied saying he never asks for one. It was suggested that if John wished for a donation to be made he should submit it to the Secretary as per the current rules.

Meeting closed @ 21:28

Date of next meeting Friday 3rd March 2006.
