Minutes of the Previous Meeting 5th May

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and agreed as a true record.  

Matters arising

Club Relay Event – Item to be taken off the agenda

 

Elmton Chase, Wednesday 21st June 19:30 – Terry to talk to the footpaths officer as the footpaths were now starting to become overgrown. Brian Banton to arrange for water cups to be available, Maurice Jones to organise the start / finish banners. The meeting expressed some concerns over the availability of parking in the village.

 

Handicap Race, Friday 7th July 19:00 All issues covered, no further actions required.

 

Summer X-country – the date is confirmed as Wednesday 26th July @ 19:30. The cricket club will be approached to see if they will provide the catering.

Subsequently in AOB the Barlborough Babes expressed an interest in organising the catering and would submit a quote.

 

Clowne Half Marathon (CHM)

Les reported that Dave Wright’s wife was fine at the moment and was due to go into hospital in June.

As far as the half marathon was concerned the race permit had been applied. The race entry forms were the next task to undertake.

The Sport Action Group meeting was attended by Dave Johnson and Geoff Jackson, Dave was going to pursue the issue of the CRB checks with a contact from the group.

 

Grand Prix – Steve Shipp distributed the results from 3 fell races and the Rother Valley 10k and the overall standings.

 

 

Club Secretary – The Chairman thanked Dennis for the recent edition of the Clowne Chronicle.

Dennis reported that there was still an invite available for the Bassetlaw International Twining Youth Camp.

Dave Brown from UK athletics had written to the club regarding CRB checks and offered some guidance.

 

Dennis had also received notification of the Otley 10 mile road race on the14th June

and a letter from the Tickhill Running and Athletic club who are organising the Tickhill gala run on the 1st July.

 

Terry and Les had been working together to chase up the non paying members. They had been quite successful with most members now having paid.

Club Captain Dave was not present, but the training night was reported as being very well attended this week.

Treasures report – no issues.

 

Social / Publicity – Janet Butterwoth had rang to mention the Wainwright race on Saturday 1st July.

 

Steve Battle is planning to undertake a 100k race, Steve (Dave Keelings’ bother in law), will be running in aid of the Brain Tumour Research Trust and was looking for some sponsorship on and individual basis and also from the club. The standard sum of £50 from the club was proposed and accepted.

The Barlborough Babes were busy fund raising, they were organising a ‘male Stripper night’ (several club volunteers put there name forward but did not really measure up to the job); they are also running a stall at the Barlborough Summer Faye at the end on June

 

Maurice Jones is organising the Barlborough fun run on Sunday 25th June

 

Ron Wild was thanked for the £125 community ward sponsored by BT which Ron had applied for.

 

Brain Banton mention that there was still plenty of room available for the Great South Run on the 22nd October, the hotel cost is £50 per room and £15 for the coach.
