MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF CLOWNE ROAD RUNNERS FRIDAY 4th November 2005

Minutes of the Previous Meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and agreed as a true record.

 

The Chairman then welcomed Diane Smith as a new member to the club.

Matters arising

Amendment Note: Andrew Porter has booked the 7th July for next years handicap race not the 1st as previously stated.

 

Handicap Trophy  Graham Shawcroft confirmed that he was the outstanding name for past winners of the handicap race.

 

The chairman stated that the News letter had been well received and mentioned if more people could be contacted by email to save on postage.

Currently there was a good response with the returns for the club voting forms.

 

Remembrance Day – a wreath has been ordered by Dave Johnson, Christine English had contacted Dave, Paul Blunt was to collect and lay the wreath.

 

 

Clowne Half Marathon – Les was not at the meeting so the Vice Chairman read out a letter of progress and actions prepared by Les for the membership to undertake.

 

259 entries had been received by 28/10/05, up by 40 on this time in any previous year.

 

Water – 720 bottles of Highland Spring water have been secured by Dennis and Les. Many thanks to Dennis and John for moving them ay short notice. There was also a ‘Highland Spring’ banner to be displayed and it was hoped that next year they will sponsor all four water stations.

 

Terry Richardson said he would be going out with the police view the course.

 

Maurice may be unable to guild the wheelchair runner this year and requested someone to be prepared do the job instead. Steve Shipp volunteered.

 

Tony Holt to be acknowledged for winning the wheelchair race for the last six years Trevor to sort out a shield for him.

 

Tony Buckingham to be approached for presenting the prizes if not him then maybe the Sport Action Group Chairman could be approached.

 

Marshals meeting 7-7:30 @ Clowne Community Centre

 

A reminder that 2 marshals were required to be provided if a club runner intended to enter the race.

 

Fun Run – the route had been agreed as the usual course with just a few minor exceptions. The mud problem would be mentioned in the letter.

Les would also print the letters for the residents of Boughton Lane and Michelle would deliver them as usual.

 

Last years winner would be bringing the trophy back on the day, he had written a letter to the club suggesting certain improvements that could be made to make the event a better race. (He was politely thanked - in no uncertain terms)

 

Training night – 6 attendees this week, Andy Ward was there for the next few weeks all being well

 

Grand Prix – Steve handed out the latest ‘on-road’ results and overall positions.

 

The last on road Grand Prix events is the Bolsover 10k on 18th December.

 

Secretary’s spot – nothing of note.

 

Club Captain – the X-country meeting was next Monday, Dave asked if there were any dates to avoid. The Tigger Tor race was the only concern. The Clowne venue would not be a problem if the other clubs were struggling for dates.

 

Presentation night – 6 tickets sold so far

 

Scotland Trip – people were putting there names forward a 36 seater mini bus would be required.

Update on Dave Wright wife’s operation, the club (Terry R) to organise flowers

 

Gregg has passed his practical for driving the bus, only the theory test to take next.

 

The Chairman asked if people would like to double up on travel arrangements for the Percy Pud 10k.

 

Geoff and Andrea expecting child – congratulations, there were wild hoots of delight and Geoff nearly got his hand in his pocket.
