started the meeting by presenting the awards for the Derbyshire 10 mile
Championships the recipients were:-

Sarah Cokeley John Proffitt
Yvonne Clark
The Chairman welcomed Hillary Smith
a young lady wishing to join the club.
The minutes of the previous meeting
were read and agreed as a true record.
Bolsover Awards – none of our members won a final award but there were
certificates for all our nominees.
Sports action funding – the awards were now pending, The
Chairman also stated that there had also been a donation of £300 from another
source.
Presentation Night – John Proffitt confirmed on the night
that the Community Centre was available on Saturday 6th January 2007
and this date was then confirmed for Presentation night.
Clowne Half Marathon (CHM) –
Les commented that the entries were slow so far, currently only 48 (slow also for
Worksop 1/2m).
There had been some correspondence
from the Cresswell Scouts group who could only man one water station this year.
Les asked if the membership new of any other groups who could step in. Also extra
marshals were likely to be needed. Les reminded the meeting that if a member
wished to run the CHM then they need to supply 2 marshals as laid down in the
club constitution.
Les had talked to Steve Ship regarding
the running bag mementoes and one was passed around the meeting for inspection.
Les said that the mystery donation of £300 would pay for the mobile toilets.
Club Secretary – Dennis read
out a letter from Karen Bestwick saying that there was going to be a cake stand
at the Worksop 1/2m. People could donate cakes etc and the profits from the stand
would to go to the Sarah Dickinson trust.
Dennis had received two letters requesting
donations from the club. One was from Lewis Banton requesting a donation for
the Edale Mountain Rescue group.
Also Brian Banton who is
participating in the Great South Run whished to support the MS Charity, reference
was made to Michelle Manion who had recently being diagnosed with MS. Both
requests were supported by the membership each with a £50 donation.
Dennis had also received a letter
from Dave Brown the UK athletic welfare officer who had written regarding the necessity
for any coach to have a CRB check done. The correspondence had been forwarded
to Andrew Ward.
Dennis had also been busy sending
out correspondence on the Grand prix and had compiled the confidential
‘emergency telephone numbers’ list for the committee members
Trevor Platts had also written the
Dennis regarding the trophy winners at last years CHM. Dennis said that this
was not under his jurisdiction and maybe Avis Blunt should be contacted.
Larwood 10K – the club had been
approached about the possibility of helping to organise the second Larwood 10k.
The Chairman read the letter from Karen and Reg Bestwick who were unable to
organise it next year. It was thought that the surgery may take on the sponsorship
and marshalling but the overall event would need managing. The Chairman said he
would keep the item in hand pending more information from Karen and Reg, no immediate
decision needed to be taken as yet.
Treasures report – Lewis was not
present but it was known that the club would receive a cheque for £27 from the
Barlborough Fun day.
Social / Publicity – no issues.
Grand Prix – Steve was not
present so John Proffitt distributed the latest Grand Prix standing and races
results.
Worksop Running Club – marshals were required for the Clumber 10k
President – not present
Great South Run – Brian Banton outlined the itinerary for the forthcoming trip. There were
still spaces at the hotel and on the coach.
Club Captain – not present
Barlborough Babies – Sarah mentioned that a small running group known as the ‘Spinkhill
Striders’ were looking for advice on starting up their own club. The thought
was that because of issues such as insurance and affiliation fees it would be
better to come under the wing of an established club such as Clowne.
Grand Prix – The Chairman
outlined various issues currently surrounding the Grand Prix. After the last meeting
Dennis had sent out a letter containing various races in the general locality.
This was designed as a guide for people to think about until Steve Shipp
distributed the Grand Prix voting forms.
The Chairman suggested various
principles that people might want to think about, such as locality, time of
year and ease of entry to the race. He also stressed that it was up to the
individual to decide and that the following debate, and Dennis’s race list were
only a guide and it would be up to the individual to vote, Steve would add up the votes as usual.
Off-road
GP - summary of the debate
Including
the summer x-country in the Grand Prix would encourage people to participants
in the event which had been poorly attended at times. It could be included as a
category 2 race
Including
he Bawtry forest tail race would be supporting a local club and at just over 7
mile could be included as a category 3 race.
As there was a club trophy for the
highest placed club member in the Totley series, keeping the all the Totley races
in the GP would be logical.
The Castleton Fell Race could be classed as a category 3 race.
The Chairman mentioned that the
Tigers 10 race had now become the shorter ‘Tigers Todger’ and that the race
category should be change. With regards to the category 3 races Geoff suggested
pulling the ‘Todger’ out and sticking it back in its appropriate place i.e. category
2
On-road
GP - summary of the debate
The Rother Valley 10k was unfair
because to enter you also had to pay to get into the park.
The Larwood 10k could be considered
as a new race for the future
The Sheffield 10k and half marathon
were races which start and finish in the Don Valley Stadium which was a
favourable experience.
The club membership liked to support
local races and colleagues such as the two Ranby races and the Worksop ½
marathon
The Chairman reminder the
membership that they had until the 22nd December to vote and hand
the voting forms back to Steve.
AOB – none. Meeting
